The Kito Isles

Although the Kingdom of Agnum as tried several times to absorb the Isles into her territories, the Kito Isles preserve their own Dwarven identity and are independent from the kingdom. Each of the three major islands are the equivalent to free cities, and are not under any rule but their own. The Isles are extremely popular for their trade, residing between Agnum and Thandava.

The Islands

Bandari

The northernmost island, Bandari, is home to one of the oldest forests of Xanthiri, known as the Sataloa Jungles. It is a sanctuary, a forest frozen in time from thousands of years ago.

Rowatoa

The middle island is most famous for having pink sandy beaches, a result of pieces of beautiful red coral mixing with the white sands. The coral itself is known as Island's Veins, used in medicines and food by the Sand Dwarves. Because of this, dishes have lots of pink and red coloring.

Otokere

Otokere island houses Maputea Hill, which is actually an active volcano. It is extremely sacred, serving as a giant shrine to the Mothers of Kito. Otokere has several beaches that have black sand, a result of lava flowing from Maputea during an eruption in the past.

Structure

Each island is lead by a dwarven chieftain. They do more business with outsiders than they do each other, having a friendly rivalry.

History

The Kito Isles were the some of the earliest lands that the Dwarven returned to after their great departure before the Scourge.

Territories

The Kito Isles are the ancestral lands of the Sand Dwarves, the islands believed to have been literally created by the Mothers of Kito, the Mothers of the Sand Dwarves.

Foreign Relations

The Kito Isles has a hot and cold relationship with the Kingdom of Agnum.   During the invasion that prompted the formation of Agnum, The Isles were among the parties that came together to fight of the intruders from the North. However, the Sand Dwarves declined to join the new kingdom. This did not bode over well, as many of the groups that agreed to become part of the kingdom saw the Dwarves as being selfish, when they were forced to put up with one another.   Agnum did once seek to forcefully take the Isles, by the leadership of one of the worst remembered Kings, but they actually were unable to. Agnum since then has made no attempts, and tries to put that past behind them, while Kito still remembers despite trading together still.
