Naiaid

Naiads are scattered across many villages, typically in forested areas near rivers or the ocean. They sometimes venture into big cities for trading purposes, being curious and inquisitive of the world.

APPEARANCE

The Naiads are the tallest elves, and very slender. They decorate their natural hair with flowers, sometimes bound intricately with vines or shells. Their affinity for water magic results in blue to green eyes.

They do not have traditional family names. They have a given name, and a second name that can serve as a surname. This second name is typically the given name of a parent, and when written, comes before their own given name.

Naiads do follow the ancient Elvhen gods, but give special attention to some of the minor gods. Cults surrounding Yanonia, god of marriage, and Samudara, god of fishing, have more shrines in the south than anywhere else.

Beauty Ideals

Naiads enjoy extenuating their beauty with accessories and makeup. For example, long ears are considered lovely but earrings that bring even more attention to them are desired. They are known for their bold, colorful face paint and decorative flowers.

Gender Ideals

Naiads are primarily agender, much like their western siblings. However, Naiads who live in or near larger cities are exposed to many genders, which they may feel attached to. Naiad parents, however, view it as a little childish. They prefer if if exploring that is left to after adolescence, when they are a little more mature.
