Breka The Demon Whisperer wants to complete a network of sites of unholy arcane energy to power a portal to bring demons into Ashtalon before the next planetary alignment but is having difficulty getting it done using minor demons, cultists, and the demon possessed because the Eyes of Ta-lon the secret investigative arm of the Council of Brelm has entered into an alliance with the Vyrdyn and the Fey preventing access to areas where some of the unholy sites are located.   THEME
Virtue triumphs Evil. A few good people can overcome evil, and change the world if they work together.   Evil intentions, arrogance, and the desire for ultimate power cause dissension, divisiveness, overconfidence, and recklessness, and ultimately lead to destruction.   BACKGROUND
A band of Heroes led by Xanaro Golden Hand disappeared 20 years ago. They were on a secret mission to discover where evil and destructive monsters were coming from, and to put an end to their expansion into Ashtalon.   During the last 2 decades a new group of potential heroes have been trained from a very young age. Their training is almost complete, though they are still young and untried.   They are now forced by a Broken alliance with the Fey to end their training early, and begin a mission that only they have the necessary skills for. Their immediate task is to enter the Elcar Forest to attempt to defuse the situation that has caused the Syl Vyrdyn to break their alliance with the Eyes of Ta-lon and the Guild of Heroes.   Their greater task is to go into the wilds of Ashtalon and discover what has befallen Xanaro and his band of heroes if possible. Their ultimate mission however is to find the source of the strange monsters and creatures that have been plaguing the lands of Ashtalon, and put an end to their influx.   They have been hand picked as the brightest, quickest learners, and most effective at their various professions and have been trained by some of the very mentors that trained Xanaro and some of his companions. Others have been chosen by the Fey due to their prodigy like grasp of various skills and arcane magics.   The magic they wield is a new kind of magic, arcane forces that use verbal, somatic and material components to achieve their effects. Gone are the vast lists of magic at casters beck and call. Now each spell must be painstakingly prepared the night before and castings are limited to a number of arcane or divine slots determined by a caster's level of mastery.   Magic is once again available in the world but only to a few talented individuals. There are rumors, however, that Xanaro had met some arcane casters that were able to access powerful arcane forces in new and exciting ways. Time will tell if these rumors are true or merely legend.   Breka has been using portals to bring beasts and creatures from other dimensions and planes into Ashtalon to create chaos. He plans to use this chaos to complete a network of sites of unholy power which form a giant Pentagam with a Master Portal in the center which will allow him to bring in powerful demons and potentially even their masters, Demon Lords from the plane of the Abyss. The demons have promised him lordship over all of the peoples of Ashtalon as a reward. They have also gifted him with extraordinary arcane power. The first Demon Lord is Yeenoghu, who created the race of Gnolls. The second is Baphomet, who represents the Minotaurs.
