Whispering Water

A fizzing, carbonated beverage invented by the Bennu. Whispering Water is cloyingly sweet, and was originally made to mask the bitter taste of medicine given to children. In the present day, it is enjoyed by people of all ages throughout Xalendria.

The bubbles responsible for the drink's signature whispering sound are a result of gases released by yeast, a crucial ingredient.

Raw materials & Components

Nearly every Bennu family has a recipe for Whispering Water, and no two are exactly the same. However, each contains four mandatory ingredients: water, yeast, honey, and date syrup. Sometimes the juices or rinds of fruit are added as well. The ingredients are mixed, then left in tightly sealed clay vessels to encourage the formation of carbonation.
