Eolian Shar-Republic

Structure

Each Shar sends six officials, usually each representing a different specific interest from that Shar (financial, military, etc.) to represent that Shar at the Grand Assembly. How these officials are chosen is up to the individual Shar.
These officials are known as "Turmen", roughly meaning "Person of the People". A Shar's Turmen each hold their position for 12 years, but to keep change fluid, not abrupt, the changing of a Turmen is staggered so that one Turmen from each Shar is replaced every two years.
The Grand Assembly decides most matters by popular vote, but if things cannot be decided quickly or efficiently in such a matter or any higher office is needed, they have the "Alden", a former Turmen who acts only as moderator and public face and voice of the Grand Assembly. The Alden is elected for life.
