Devestating battle between the goddess of earth Terra and the kingdom of Reqir

Terra fought by summoning natural disasters, elementals and calling upon the elves to rally to her aid. o These aint no baby elementals like you see today. These some big mother fuckers. Like 10 stories. It took a lot to drag these guys down. • The royal family claimed that the goddess meant to destroy the world and bring an end to everything they built because she had turned evil. This rallied the troops to their support • The Kings Council, the meeting of Royalty from each of the 7 kingdoms, advised against this and wouldn’t tolerate a battle against the gods. Warned that if such a drastic measure were to occur, war would result. • The King, Sedgwick Talonfall went ahead with his plan anyways and with his army full of supporters and began to unravel his plan • While there isn’t a way to fight earthquakes or tremors, the magic users loyal to the crown were able to create countermeasures to protect things as big as cities from the goddesses magic. • Magical power used to be much more powerful due to the existence of Ilyosi, which was later sacrificed. This allowed spellcasters to harness more power and unleash incredibly powerful magical spells. Having top spellcasters in your military was what made you a feared opponent, not really numbers • Talonfall’s plan was to first obtain the Ilyosi which was locked away in a dungeon in the BIG RED KINGDOM by sneaking a shadow team in the dungeon and steal the item. • After some assassinations and stealthy missions, the item was secured and returned to Reqir. • The next step was to destroy all temples to Terra in the kingdom and overtake the first temple in the Goldwood and sacrifice the ITEM to seal the gateway between the material plane and the Plane of the divine. The smaller gods could still get through tho • The fighting was bloody and MANY people lost their lives. • Many people in the kingdom revolted to this idea and tried to revolt but were easily subdued • The elves of the forest along with the earth golems, and elementals summoned by the goddess rose to fight the kings army. Both sides sustained heavy losses but thanks to the disgusting power of the magic users in the kings army, and the ITEM that they had solely in their possession, the fight started to shift in their favor. • Seeing this, Gaia used her remaining power to grant the top elvish warrior, a young man named Hyland Valadera, immortality so long as he used his power to protects the temple and the gods. • This was an act of desperation on the part of the goddess and when the army and mages arrived, the forest was COMPLETELY DESTROYED. The other gods had not yet realized the true plan the mortals had in store for them since they normally keep to their own domains, and by the time they did, it was too late to stop the ritual, and the mages were able to hold back the attacks of the gods, though many were killed in the process. • Hyland was overwhelmed since he had no special powers other than when he was hurt, his body healed itself. Every time he was killed he was brutally killed again. The king's army marched into the first temple and performed a sacrificial ritual with the “Thing that provides magical energy throughout the realm” and the big gods were banished from the realm. • Right before her banishment, the Terra and the other 6 deities, sensing their defeat, each of the gods placed a powerful relics containing pieces of their power onto the earth so that there would be a way to reunite the planes in the future. • Hyland soon regenerated and attempted to attack again, taking down one or two men before being killed again. Once the men figured this out, they buried him in a deep deep crypt under the ruble of the temple with a powerful magical seal. All the elves in the Goldwood were mostly all killed. Only a small number were able to escape and scatter. The magical strength in the realm was set to a fraction of what it once was after the sacrifice of the Ilyosi       NEW IDEA: -The young king of Reqir, King Talonfall who was only 23, was extremely power hungry and thought he could bring down the sun and absorb its power. -His father had died an early death for attempting to meddle with the affairs of the gods to save the life of a boy who had crossed them. -Filled with rage for revenge, he vowed to avenge his father in the name of Reqir and for all that is righteous. -He wanted to absorb the power of the goddess Terra for himself and expand his reach across Zevian. he devoted countless resources into the study of the link between the gods and Zevian. Where did they come from? why are they still here? what is our purpose? All questions the 7 wouldn't dare answer directly. -He attempted to gain the favor of the other kingdoms in meetings with their leaders, but none would dare risk making a move against one of the 7, especially after what happened to the previous king of Reqir. -Though many breakthroughs were made by him and his researchers, he wasn't nearly as crafty as he thought -One day while exploring the grand temple of Terra in the Goldwood, Terra spoke out to them. "Leave here young Talonfall." Her voice echoed through the halls. "Otherwise I will have no remorse in silencing you, just as I did your father." -"I"ll STOP YOU" He screamed back, but there was no reply. Only a soft rumble could be heard rapidly approaching. Debris began falling from the ceiling towards Sedgwick and his team. They fled further down the tunnel, but the team was quickly buried and by the time the ceiling stopped falling, Sedgwick was buried from the waist down and both of his legs were badly injured. -After a full 16 hours, he was finally rescued, but his team all were either killed on impact or suffocated to death. (Add more about his acts of desperation and wanting to avenge him. Terra sees this and takes pitty on him, but doesn't act yet)   -This became a turning point for Sedgwick as he no longer just wished for his father to be able to rest peacefully, but he also wanted to slay what he perceived to be a monster watching over the kingdom from the heavens.   -He continued to pursue his research in a more secure location, not allowing for any watchful eyes of nature to creep in. He discovered what he believed to be the energy link which holds the gods to this plane. He also uncovered a magitech method to theoretically sever this bond and keep the gods from interfering with mortals. It would, however, requirer an unheard of amount of energy.   This led Sedgwick to conduct even more dangerous experiments on people, and even himself. These experiments began to drain him of his life force and slowly turned him more and more mad. The monstrosity of these experiments scaled from magical excavation of his own essence to human sacrifices later down the road. While growing ever more crazy in his thirst for revenge, he has retained his humanity up to now. Though much more aggressive and willing to take extraordinary risks, his human tendencies were still intact.   One day, while visiting the resting place of his father, he was visited by a young woman with cool brown hair and gleaming yellow eyes. She wore a long bright dress and appeared as a symbol of peace.(Meets Terra for the first time) "Friend of yours?" "Father" "Im sorry. Everything happens for a reason though. I'm sure he served his purpose well. You should be proud." "I wish that were true. He died trying to save someone weaker than him, and it cost him everything. The worst part is he didn't even manage to save the poor man he was trying to help. He died for nothing." "But he made you. And you can still make that difference." "Yeah... Maybe one day I will"   As experiments continue, the primary focus shifts towards storing this magical energy in a capacitor. this process proved extremely dangerous and many trials ended in explosive failure resulting in research stations left to ruin and lives lost. But small scale tests had begun to prove successful. Additionally, against his better judgment, Sedgwick continued experimenting on his own magical capabilities and delving deeper into his own being in an attempt to discover the origin of his power. Several painful experiments later, he discovers a method of reaching within chest towards where the heart should be to find the "spark." As soon as he made contact, however, a surge of magical power flowed through him causing him to retch back in pain. The connection was immediately broken as the power overwhelmed him, Sedgwick's vision began to fade and his consciousness slipped as a smile crept onto his face.     One day while traveling to an offsite location, alone on horseback at the time, a voice called to him. "You shouldn't meddle with what you don't understand young king. It's dangerous not just for you, but the realm and everyone in it could be at risk." It was the woman he had spoken to at his fathers grave. She walked out from the brush into the center of the road to meet him. A long pause ensues as they meet each other's gaze. "You remember me?" "You were the woman at my fathers grave, correct? What are you doing out here?" "Bringing you a warning." "From whom?" Sedgwick replied reaching for the hilt of his sword. "The realm" the woman replied. "Who is it? Albeita? Ylgir? Ajeroc? Who do you work for?" the king yelled. "I live to care and comfort for the people of this world. But right now I'm here to save you." "From what?" "Yourself, Sedgwick." "I don't have time for this" the king grumbled and pulled his reins to leave. "If you keep trying to wield the power of the gift inside you it will tear you and the realm apart." The king stopped. "How do you know about that? I haven't told anyo-" "You'll die, Sedgwick." He paused for a moment. "I have the strength of ten men in me. I can contain it!" "Hundre-Thousands could die Sedgwick" the woman interjected. "If you continue to follow this path, it will consume you --- and I won't be able to help you." The two stared into eachother's eyes for what felt like an eternity. "And how would you do that? You gonna sing me a song?" The king said before riding off leaving the woman behind.   Upon reaching his facility he began construction of a device that would dampen the blowback of the magical connection. After a week of work, he conducted an experiment on himself, with the help of several researchers. He strapped himself to a table and began lowering the device over the center of his chest. The connection was the same as before, causing a rift to open over his heart. Electrifying pain overtook his body. His limbs felt as if they would be torn away at any moment. It felt like it lasted a century when in reality 4 seconds was all it took to completely overload the power containment system. causing a burst explosion within the confined space of the lab. Sedgwick quickly lost consciousness. When he awoke, he was prone on the floor of the lab. His vision blurred as he tried to make out the shapes of his researchers bloodied in front of him. He tried to stand, but he then felt that he was almost completely buried, then a searing pain shot through his chest and torso. Was it just pain from the experiment? No this was different. As if he had been stabbed. The ground was soaked with blood. He felt himself beginning to lose consciousness again, but before he could, a woman's foot stepped in front of him. he lifted his head enough to recognize the woman from the road just a few days prior. "I hope you've learned your lesson, Sedgwick" were the last words he heard before once again passing out.   When he woke up again, he was still in the ruined underground lab. Light crept in through the newly made gaps in the ceiling and illuminated the space. "Ah, you're finally awake.'' He was laying against one of the walls of the lab. He tried to sit up but found he was too sore to do so comfortably and rested back again. His body was still tired from what had just happened. He moved a hand to his torso and noticed the blood was gone, and the crushing feeling of on his chest was no longer there. "Did you do this?" "As I said before, I live to care and comfort the people of this world." "This world? Who are you really?" "Why don't you rest now, I sent word to your men they should be here shortly." A pause. "No really, who are you?" "I'm afraid you're not going to like it." "Please tell me, I owe you my life. If I had heeded your warning I wouldn't have gotten here, to begin with. But you came to my aid anyways." "My name is Terra, the Goddess of the earth." after a brief pause "Haha yes, of course, the patron goddess of the kingdom has come to save me. To what do I owe the pleasure?" Suddenly the woman's eyes opened wide with a bright white light. She raised her arms from her side, then turned to face the young king, then suddenly, he was transported to what seemed like another dimension. He opened his eyes to see just the woman in front of him. He was standing too, and he didn't feel the pain and stiffness he was feeling in the lab. Everything around them was dark, yet he could see both himself and the woman perfectly. "Is this a world you want to live in?" she spoke with a purpose as if she were a mother scolding her child. "Where are we?" "This is what you might call the entrance to hell. The gates of the nether world." Suddenly below them, three eerie red beams of light broke through the darkness. Then, they moved to leave a trail of red behind them towards each other forming a circle. A moment later, the circle filled with more red markings with patterns and letters of an unknown language to Sedgwick. Once it completed a loud *click* was heard. "Why did you bring me here? Did I do something wrong? Please tell me!" The king said in a panicked tone. But the goddess seemed uninterested in his words, continuing her gaze down into the depths below. "It's opening." Sedgwick turned slowly once more towards the mysterious sigil as it began to move lower like a gigantic door. The rumbling of the seemingly heavy door finally stopped with a crash that vibrated the space. A line appeared in the center and as it pushed itself open, a single scream of terror was released into the air. Then, in a blink, he was back on the floor of the lab. "That is where the current world is currently heading if you continue with what you're doing." "Yo-You really are Terra aren't you." Her face turned grim and nodded. "It's not just your life you're messing with. The magical energy inside you and everything in this world can only be affected by people like you, who have the gift. That grants you incredible power, but also a responsibility to keep the people safe from what they cannot see." She gestures towards the bodies of the researchers thrown about on the floor. "The power within those like you is much greater than a normal person or object. By trying to move that much magical energy, you have the potential to tear the fabric of this reality and allow for darker things, better sealed away to creep through. Not to mention that you and the people would be put at an incredible risk."
