Garrison Gecko

The mischievous garrison geckos are a magical offshoot of common tokay geckos. First encountered in the Zone's Garrison City, these geckos have been altered by the background magic of the Pit. They are visual and vocal chameleons able to duplicate colors and sounds around them. The cleverest of them are considered full sophonts and citizens of the Zone.

The most famous garrison gecko is Bunso Tuko, the mascot of Lola's Comfy Kitchen! He hangs out in the thatched roof over the patio and provides brutally honest commentary on karaoke night. Don't mess with him, he's one of Lola's favorites!

Garrison geckos are the descendants of regular tokay geckos who hitched a ride to the Kirinal Concordance Zone in the building materials used to make thatched roof structures. They lived peacefully in the roofs along the Gold Arrow River slowly absorbing the magic of the Kirinal Pit.

Over time garrison geckos developed incredible control over the chameleon coloring of their skin. The chameleon effect also applied to their voices, and they can duplicate any sound that they hear. Many of them developed rudimentary intelligence along with the ability to speak. The smartest of them are considered the equal of other mortals. These full citizens are required to "Bear the Ident-a-hedron."

Despite their intelligence, garrison geckos prefer to live in the thatched roofs of homes or anywhere that's warm with insects for them to eat. They have spread throughout all the other cities of the Zone and have spread throughout the warmer parts of the Peninsula of Lozar. They especially enjoy the warm Bluestar Alliance and a significant colony of them lives on Bluestar Lake.
