Creator Dragon

A Dragon who fosters life. They gain a reputation for being bad tempered and manipulative, although that usually comes from a misunderstanding. Creator Dragons choose areas to care for and then about protecting them. These areas are very often forests, though they only choose uninhabited areas. Each one has a different idea of what is protecting an environment, although they usually see forests as the ideal, and outside intrusion as a detriment. This can lead to the stereotype of them filling their forests with fog or thicket mazes, although it is just as common for them to have clear forests as foggy ones. These defenses may not truly follow their borders, which are impossible to know for outsiders but extremely clear to the dragons. If somebody does intrude, the dragon will view it as the greatest of offenses. The Creator Dragon will either then kill that person or force it to serve them. Both are done without respect for humanity, which leads to the belief that Creator Dragons are cruel. The latter is accomplished through gradual corrosion of the target’s will through seduction, torture, and repetitive charms. The one creature a Creator Dragon may not have a reason for attacking is elves, a hatred developed after Ruler ordered a hunt on them. The other reason they will subjugate mortals is if they fear an encroachment onto their lands or they need more materials. In those cases, they will seduce powerful people, like kings, princes, or sacred figures to be slaves. They then use these slaves to gather treasure in the form of spell components, like Insatiable Dragons, although unlike them, Creator Dragons collect them to be used. They use spells to foster life in their forest, protecting it. Some ways they protect their domain are to watch for intruders through the eyes of wildlife, create physical barriers, using spells to make the area untraceable, to create magical confusing fog, or simply to make the area more vibrant through the creation of creatures and wildlife. They each have particular ways of protecting their land, and if they find that another dragon is protecting their land in an egregiously dangerous way, in their eyes, they will attempt to take the land. If they intentionally damage an ecology, they will transform into Black Dragons.

Basic Information

Genetics and Reproduction

Creator Dragons reproduce much like snakes. Once every 10 to 25 years, cycles that seem to be random, Creator Dragons will go into a breeding frenzy. Large groups of Creator Dragons will gather in large knots, from which females come away pregnant. They then travel to an unclaimed area of land and lay the egg. The egg grows until the dragon is ready to come out, at which point the dragon will hatch

Growth Rate & Stages

For the first few years of its life it will be raised by animals who show it the ways of nature. After it’s adoptive parents die, it will claim a land and grow in power.

Ecology and Habitats

They can manipulate the environment to be what they want, although they prefer forests.

Dietary Needs and Habits

It can eat any natural produce.

Biological Cycle

They shed scales during Cooling, which lose color, leaving their bare skin behind, then grow them back during Warming.  They hibernate while they have lost their scales, waking up once they regain their scales.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Each Creator Dragon is very isolated, preferring their method of protection to that of any other’s, and not interacting much with other sentient creatures.

Domestication

If kept in industrialized areas they will fall into a deep despair, risking anything, including death, to escape.  If unable to, they will simply die.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

They sometimes help extremely rural farmers who strive not to disturb the environment.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

They form tight clumps in the Prime World, while in the Feywild, they are spread out, claiming large, far apart territories.

Average Intelligence

They are very smart, turning this intelligence towards helping and protecting their home.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

They can feel matter around them, letting them feel matter around them, leading to an ability to see in the dark and even combat blindness.
Genetic Ancestor(s)
Conservation Status
In the Feywild, Ruler has attacked Creator Dragons, and as such they are incredibly rare, and in the Prime World, the world is mostly inhabited, so they are also rare, although they do form smaller and more concentrated groups as a result, and are not in much danger.
Average Physique
One of the least physically impressive dragons.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Their scales are a hearty green while on them, fading to white while falling off, and their skin is a mottled greenish-white.
