Knight or Dame

The Knight or Lady is the basic title of Nobility. Although often a Warrior classed there is no actual requirement.
Cavalier is the preferred class to Knight.
Paladin is the next preferred Class.
Fighter and Ranger are next.
Clerics of war like gods and goddess are next.
Low Level adventuring Magic Users are the last class acceptable for Knighthood.
Thieves and Bards are not considered worthy of Knighthood.

Appointment

Knighthood and Dame-hood are awarded by a Baronet(Baronetess) or higher Noble

Duties

A Knight or Dame is expected to provide military and political support and sometimes economic support to the Noble that granted them title.

Responsibilities

Protection of the liege and other nobles. Defense of free folk. Defeat of the giants that seek destruction of the free folk.

Benefits

Coat of Arms - The Knight / Dame is assigned a heraldry.
Right of Arms - The Knight / Dame has authority to raise a force of men-at-arms. The Knight / Dame may raise a force of no more then 10 Men-at-Arms.
Right to Trial by Combat - A Knight or Dame has the Right to face Trial by Combat when accused.

Knighthood or Dame-hood may be removed by the awarding Noble or higher for Cause: Failure to Keep Oath, Neglecting their Duty or Treason.
