The Fish Plague struck Riéza in late Achuary, 529. The disease was probably brought to the city by sailors arriving from the south, where the Fish Plague had already ravaged numerous communities, and, once it had arrived in Riéza, it spread throughout the city and surrounding countryside rapidly.
