Nomadic Districts

Written by Santi Belmonte (1901986)
The Nomadic Districts are several groups of people that travel to, from and around Chimeria Mountain, looking for areas to settle down or new homelands to inhabit. Some choose to make rounds around the mountain, visiting the various Checkpoint Farms situated around it. They often travel in mobile homes, such as recreational vehicles, trailers or collapsible houses that are easy to set up and live in comfortably; they might also ride on Titan Turtles capable of carrying their small homes on their backs. When someone finds a place where they feel they can sustainably live permanently, they can choose to be left behind by their colony to establish a new Checkpoint Farm.   Culturally, Nomadic Districts prefer to pack light and live light. As a means of communication or keeping in touch with events going on in the world, people keep hand-held devices such as small radios or screen projectors that tell them the news or provide entertainment.   For protection from potential threats, Districts have combat soldiers and warriors who are well armed to protect them. These threats consist of wild creatures and bandits that pose a danger to the people that travel around Chimeria. Soldiers and warriors are recruited through the basic combat training programme established in all Districts. These warriors are equiped with blades fashioned from metals from Chimeria Mountain and energy rifles powered by shimmer wax.   Often, Nomadic Districts may be given tasks by the Mining Towns or by the Checkpoint Farms. These tasks could include finding and collecting items wanted or needed by the establishment, escorting a supply deliveryman to and from the two areas, or eliminating any threats to the establishments.   All Nomadic Districts are capable of doing the various necessary skills in properly taking care of themselves as they travel around Chimeria. However, each district excels in a certain skill.   There are 5 Nomadic Districts:

Norte

The Norte District excels in adaptability and survival. One of their proficiencies is determining and predicting the weather of their area and preparing appropriate shelter to protect themselves in their current environments. Another one of their key skills is agriculture; their animals companions are usually livestock or other domestic creatures. People in this district are also adept at hiding from or avoiding potential threats or hazards that they might come across. This is done through their ability of naturally camouflaging their homes to merge with their environment. People that break off from the Nomadic District to establish a Checkpoint Farm usually sell equipment for determining weather, farming tools, and perhaps special crops they grow depending on the area they're based in.

Avolan

Avolan specialise in technology. Due to heavy collaboration with the mining towns and frequent visits to Chimeria Mountain, they are one of the more intelligent Nomadic Districts. Their more advanced technology consists of more powerful energy rifles and state-of-the-art mobile transportation vehicles. They added more day-to-day gadgets in their inventory, such as higher quality radios and screens. A Checkpoint Farm founded by a former Avolan member may sell these gadgets along with their basic goods. This district is somewhat Restorationist, but not fully committed to the cause.

Vilayla

Vilayla is more advanced in combat and hunting. People from the Vilayla District make combat training, exercise and sparring routine day-to-day activities as they travel around Chimeria. Often, people from this Nomadic District are tasked from Checkpoint Farms or Mining Towns to eliminate threats or enemies. Vilayla is also the only Nomadic District to have an Advanced Combat Training Programme in addition to the Basic Combat Training Programme all Districts have. People that make Checkpoint Farms might sell things such as special weapons or armor or perhaps animal pelts, parts or perhaps full carcasses.

Phey

Phey is adept in alchemy and magic. Due to their strong Durlist faith and frequent practice of its traditions and culture, the elders from this Nomadic District are master alchemists. Their Checkpoint Farms may have small breweries that sell potions or other magical items and goods. Due to Durlism being a key aspect of their culture, people from the Phey District are strongly against the Restorationists.

Filta

Filta is highly proficient in diplomacy and negotiation. Members of the Filta District are most likely to try and haggle down prices for goods they try to purchase from Checkpoint Farms. They make frequent visits to Mining Towns, often procuring valuable treasures from time to time. People from Filta rarely leave to establish Checkpoint Farms, but when they do, they often sell rare items or supplies that may be useful in trade or documentation. People of the Filta District are completely supportive of Restorationists.
