space-bridge

Space-bridge is a device which jumpstarts a space ship for inter-system travel. The Baro System has only one functional space-bridge.

Method of working

Space-bridge works best with "receiving" space-bridges on the other side but it is not a requirement. Space-bridge is usually ring-shaped and is big enough to fit a medium-sized transport ships. Space-bridge is usually placed on planetary or some major lunar orbits but there have been sightings of mobile space-bridges in the deep space.
Unlike some older and inefficient forms of high speed travel, like using a ship-based hyperdrive, a space-bridge charges the ship for ultra-high speed and lets it almost immediately "jump" the distance. The bridge together with the ship's computer calculate the jump, meaning the safest and most optimal speed and route. Jumping via ship-based hyperdrive requires more calculations from the ship's computer and also pilot's expertise.
