Bar 1
Location
Bar 1 is the closest planet to the sun in The Baro System and also the smallest celestial body in this system. It is too small to keep a moon. Bar 1 rotates around the sun in a little over one hundred regular days while the day cycle of the planet is about 24 hours long.Geography and Life
Bar 1 is mostly a desert planet with some variation at the poles and in the mountains. There are warm seas at northern and southern poles with lots of life thriving in and around them. They attract land animals and humans alike, however, the civilization does not necessarily reach to them. Early on in the development of Bar 1, the settlers decided to keep an inevitable industrialization away from both seas in order to preserve life in them. It became a kind of religion over the next centuries and, eventually, this avoiding of settling around the seas became a part of culture and nature of the people of Bar 1. Both southern and northern poles are not any traveler's destinations and humans come there only when they must, for example to hunt or fish, and leave as soon as they are done with their business. It is said that there used to be global laws prohibiting coming near the poles in the past and even harsh enforcement of those. Even though those times of unity of the planet are long gone, people are still afraid to break the ancient laws and step onto something that used to be considered a holy ground. The northern sea is separated from the desert by a peculiar mountain ridge. It circles almost all the way around the sea, lowering and disappearing only on one side for about twenty miles to rise again after that, creating a nature's entrance to this enchanted part of the planet. This mountain ridge, called Polar Mountains, is not very tall compared to the shapes of other planets but it is treacherous and deadly. Many people and animals died trying to scale those dry lifeless cliffs, whether trying to get to another side or to find safety and better life on some elevation. Excessive heat and wind have eroded the mountains so much that any part of them might crumble and collapse under extra weight or a minor earthquake and if they were to fall all at once they would kill most of the life in and pollute the northern sea.Bar 1 Dark Mirror
An ancient Dark Mirror has been found by Droto in the cave system under the Polar Mountains.
