Saïd is the capital city of Ignis. Located on the island of Molta, it is the seat of power for the Commonwealth. The vast majority of Ignis’s industry, at least factory industry, is located off island, which leave the capital city as a center of population and commerce. The city lays claim to many traditional crafts; chiefly artisan industries such as pottery, blacksmithing, and the like. The technology of the city is significantly more advanced than what would be found elsewhere in the world, especially in the Polis, which lies atop a mountain range. Ignis, while a technological powerhouse, does not yet have the resources to develop Polis-level sophistication on a larger scale, hence the nation’s expansionist goals in the current era.   Ships that come into Saïd can substitute the traditional fees for docking with the gifting of original copies of books to be added to the library. Thus, the city has one of the most complete libraries in the world, The Library of Hephaestus.

Demographics

None are turned away from Saïd. Many races and cultures come to this technological melting pot.

Government

As the capital of the Ignan Technocracy, Saïd itself is led by a council of Guardians from the nation's industries and related guilds. The working population only represents half of government seats. They make decisions that they deem as beneficial to the progress of the mortal races of Saïd

Defences

Around the limits of the metropolis are sets of magical cannons which magnify the power of the mages who use them. The industrial district has fewer resources available, but the locals are hardy and the creatures which assist them are powerful.

Industry & Trade

Saïd thrives on exporting technology and ideas. Other nations rely on it for its peerless craftsmanship of building materials.

Infrastructure

Saïd is effectively two cities in one. Atop a small mountain range is the Polis, full of glass, metal, and scholarly individuals known as the Guardians . They represent the best the mortal races have to offer, and the Polis represent the mortal's conquering of nature. On the foothills lies the rest of the sprawling city, where the working class toil in the factories and workshops which fuel the city's industrial engine.

Assets

The Ignan war machine is not to be trifled with. The most advanced military in the world is based in Saïd, and the most advanced weaponry in the world is their primary bargaining tool.

Guilds and Factions

The military, mining, and guilds hold the most sway in the city's government.

History

Beneath the Polis lies the Elemental Portal of Fire. Ancient Saïd was constructed to defend it, but the people determined that building the Polis atop the mountains would better protect it.

Architecture

In contrast with the mostly wooden and earthen structures of the rest of the world, Saïd's Polis is constructed of metal and glass. The city uses some of these elements in combination with more typical construction techniques.

Geography

Atop the Thivian Mountains lies the Polis. To the north lies the rest of the city. Around the base of the Polis lies a canal cutting clean through the mountain range.

Natural Resources

Many materials are outsourced, but most mineral components are mined directly out of the mountains, which have been an unnaturally plentiful source of ore.
