Wilderland

Created by

Pre-Shatter Once a massive continent, connecting all the far lands of the world together, Mardahar was affected far greater than all the other landmasses of Wilderland. Mainly consisting of grass plains, temperate evergreen forests and hillsides, the landscape was lacking in height deviation. These lands were the hunting ground, cultivated by the god of the wild (only going by his title, as “The Beast”). A myriad of monster and beast-like creatures inhabited these lands, commonly accepted as his predecessors, as all creatures are in some way children of the divine. But these creatures would inherit their divine father’s instincts and senses, making them stronger and more feral than most species that still wander.   Peri-Shatter When the Shattering occured, The Beast was nowhere to be seen. Neither were any of his children. With no divine protection, the lands were exposed to the raw forces of the cosmic event. Twisting, destroying and forcefully moving the land, what is now Mardahar, was utterly destroyed.   Post-Shatter When the remaining inhabitants of the lands cried for aid, their god had abandoned them and no cry was answered. Era the god of all living souls, was the only one who could sense the desperation and hopelessness of these creatures. But with her power weakened, she reached out to the other gods for aid.   All the other gods gave a part of their domains to heal the broken land. The continent Mardahar which could barely be considered a grouping of landmasses, would be blessed with the mountains by Magdohr, who the continent would take its name after. The god of nature, Okin, would bless the land with lush forests and Hyra, the god of water would channel the currents of the sea. Bringing fish to the coastal lines and sending warm water to the north.   When all was settled, creatures from all over the astral weave would settle on the newly formed continent. Most noticeably were the dragons who would fight over the territory, that now is the nation of Dragoncrown. Human survivors of the Shattering would inhabit various parts of Mardahar, founding both the nations of The Shattered shore and Genus. Dwarves and Elves sent by their respective gods would settle on the continent, to take care of the land blessed by their god.   The goblins, hobgoblins, bugbears, kobolds, tabaxis and ogres would found their own nation, as it was rare for these species to be born with innate magic. The other nation took their pride in being closely connected to the weave and there was little room for the inept. In this nation low on magic users, they took to technology to stand up for themselves. Making weapons which didn’t require any magical aptitude to wield, which could achieve the same results as what an archmage could, only with gears and pipes. Being mostly consisting of what some would say were monstrous species, gnomes and dwarves and other races that take pride in craftsmanship could easily find a to call home in Steelhaven.
