Kitsunes

The highest class of shapeshifters

The original idea of Kitsunes is by NO MEANS created by me. Keep in mind that this is the Wild Blood's version of what kitsunes are and is not accurate in the slightest to the actual folklore of kitsunes.
The highest class of the shapeshifting creatures.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Arctic Fox

Genetics and Reproduction

Reproduces and mates ONLY within primal form (which is the typical "white fox" form).   Gestation period lasts 5 years (longest out of any species of mammal; reasoning due to extended lifespan) and usually gives birth to 1-2 pups. If 2 pups are born, each comes out a month or two apart from each other.

Growth Rate & Stages

Kitsune's grow on wisdom and experience. However, they grow in appearance and physical attributions very slowly. Mentally, they grow pretty quickly.   10 human years are a good estimate to what a kitsune year is (considering they can live up to 1000 years if not killed off by specific methods).   A kitsune's tail duplicates itself when they learn a life-changing experience and gain an important moral. An event like this only can occur once every 100 years (10 kitsune years). Kitsunes in their "oldest" form can have up to 9 tails if they have reached maximum experience and wisdom.   Kitsune pups to adults grow in appearance the same as normal woodland foxes do.

Ecology and Habitats

Kitsune's originate from the Eastern Asian plains of China, Japan, Korea, and Singapore. Rumors have that their origin was brought from hibika figila (the giving-flower) thousands of years ago, suggesting that they were born from the leaves of a flower belonging to the high mountains of the valley side. Kitsunes learned to adapt to various environments once humans started to take claim of their homes and migrated to multiple continents. Kitsunes work best in forest and mountain lands.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Kitsunes have a mandatory omnivorous diet, even if they prefer appearing as a herbivorous creature. Birds are required within their diet.

Biological Cycle

Kitsunes do not live by a traditional biological cycle due to their ability to change form as they please. Instead, they can choose what they desire (Hibernate, shed, etc.)
