Spine of the World

One unique geographical feature in our fantasy world is the Spine of the World mountain range, which runs north to south and divides the continent in two. The Spine is the highest and longest mountain range in the world, with some peaks rising above 30,000 feet. The Spine of the World has had a profound impact on the people who live near it. The mountains are covered in snow and ice year-round, and the climate is harsh and unforgiving. As a result, only the hardiest and most resilient creatures are able to survive in the region.   For the human and humanoid populations that live in the shadow of the Spine, the mountains have served as both a barrier and a refuge. On one hand, they have protected these populations from invading armies and other threats from the north. On the other hand, the Spine's rugged terrain and harsh climate have made it difficult for these populations to expand their territory or interact with other regions of the world.   Despite these challenges, the Spine of the World remains an important source of resources for the people who live near it. The mountains are rich in precious metals and rare minerals, which are mined and traded throughout the world. Additionally, the Spine is home to a variety of unique flora and fauna that have adapted to the harsh environment, some of which have medicinal properties prized by healers and alchemists.   Journeys through the Spine of the World are not for the faint of heart. The rugged terrain and extreme weather make travel difficult, and there are many dangers lurking in the mountains, from rockslides to avalanches to fierce monsters. However, for those willing to brave the elements, the Spine offers a chance to experience some of the most breathtaking vistas in the world, as well as access to some of the most valuable resources known to man.
