The river horse of verglas

This legend is famously told to children, to warn them of the dangers that wild horses can pose. However, some say the myth is based on a real creature that hunts the shores of the Verglas river.

The river horse of verglas is a large black steed with a beautiful flowing mane, it walks the shores of the Verglas river in hunt of humanoid victims. The horse lures people to ride or touch it. They become attached to the horse, and are slowly dragged into the water where they are drowned and eaten by the horse.
