Adventure Hooks

For West Marches style to truly be effective it requires agency and active participation from the players.   To that end, the players need to know some of the things going on near Brimstone, rumors that have been heard, bounties and notices posted, strange locales hinted at etc. This is an available collection of those that have been found.   This is by no means exhaustive. Consult with Marshals for further possibilities, including ones you might have.  

Hiring: Hell Drive

FREELANCERS, REGULATORS, and BODYGUARDS wanted for dangerous work. Must provide own guns. GOOD PAY, inclusive of three square meals and hazard stipend. Interested parties please inquire of Daniel Prester at the Turquoise Sky Hotel. (Note: 2-3 session adventure)

Reward: $150 each, with trail rations, $30 hazard pay up front, plus a train ticket to wherever you want in Dodge City.

Hiring: Protection Detail for Cattle Drive

Charles Goodnight of the Goodnight Cattle Trail is looking for some hardy cowpokes who might help drive his herd from Texas to Bell Ranch, NM on their way to Colorado so they can be sold at market. His prize steers are worth a pretty penny, and there are plenty more dangers popping up on the trail every day.

Reward: Pay is $40 apiece and all the beans you can eat.

Rumor: Attacks on Wagon Trains

"I had a buddy on the way up from Las Colonias heading to Raton that says he came upon a wagons in two different areas, destroyed and all torn up. The folks had been all mangled. They clearly had been bludgeoned to death, no shots fired. Equipment and stores still in the wagons, so clear won't no bandit activity. " from one cowpoke.   "I've seen me what them heathen bloodthirsty Apache can do, clearly had to be them rather than some bandits." says another.

Rumor: The Caldwell Devil

"I be tellin' you my cousin lost two o' his longhorns ta the devil a week ago." from one person.   "My brother knows someone that saw a circuit rider snatched right off horse about a month ago." from another.   "My good friend saw the devil himself. Barely made it out alive. He says it was part crocodile, part, bison, and part bear." from yet another.
