Twilight Marsh

Twisting, twining, thorns so prickily,
acid, rancid winds melt hickory,
quickiley, quickely,
Into the thickickity,
Twilight Marsh melt you in a lickity!
Jackie "Crimson" Drape, Koilin Bard-423 CA

The Twilight Marsh (Greakmarch in Vertáun, Drroegnokma in Eloran Elder) lies on the geographical border of Nød and Elora, and also constitutes the planear border between the realms of Nød and Wenua. The marsh's place in both the plane of Nød (Darkness) and Wenua (Light), gives it its namesake as the "Twilight" Marsh. The Marsh stretches the entire vertical length of Eastern Elora making it impossible to reach Nød from Elora by land without first passing through the marsh.

Geography

The Twilight Marsh has a length of nearly 1,100 miles and fluctuates between 40 and 80 miles across. It is the largest marsh in Wenua, and one of the most peculiarly shaped biomes as it snakes from tropical tempatures in the south of Elora to glaciers in the north. There are several things that make this possible. Firstly, the Twilight Marsh is only half in the planear realm of Wenua and so many of the physical and geographical limitations of Wenua do not apply to the Twilight Marsh. Secondly, the Twilight Marsh was not created with the rest of Wenua, but rather gradually came about as beings travelled between the planes. Still everytime one travels from Nød to Wenua or vice versa, the Marsh gets a little bit bigger and, in the words of historian Jyceus Mollhaat, "a little bit more horrible". This theory, long known by the gods, was confirmed by mortals after geographical samples taken from the area showed its gradual swelling.   Because of The Twilight Marsh's unique geographical and planear position, many Philosophers, Clerics, and Cartographers consider the Twilight Marsh less of a geographic region and more as a "living portal". Still the fact remains that the Twilight Marsh does have properties of a unique climate, flora and fauna.
