Vehicle: Sky-Skiff

The Sky-Skiff is a vehicle (a flying ship) used since the time of the Overlords. The Factions make use of Skiffs in battle and many heroes, such as Wild-Bill Witchkok, also made use of Skiffs. Traditionally, Skiffs are aircrafts used for leisure, as utility crafts and for high performance competitive events.

Power Generation

Powered mainly from steam produced from burning Black-Sulfur and Red-Brimstone.

Propulsion

Two massive jet-thrusters fixed at the back. In air, a Skiff can be powered by sails as well as power-oars (massive leather paddles 25 feet in length and 10 feet in width, used by crews to steady the Skiff against powerful winds).

Weapons & Armament

Cannons, bomb-droppers and semiautomatic machine-guns mounted near the front and sides of the ship.

Armor and defense

Thick armor made from a variety of metallic alloys, at least 2 ft in thickness. The Skiff also has a thick hull,

Communication Tools & Systems

Typically radios and satellite-equipment are used on Skiffs.

Sensors

Key features of the design are a high bow, narrow waterline beam, and a flotation bulge along the gunwale, or top edge of the hull. The high bow provides buoyancy for moving through storms, and minimizes wind coming over the bow. The narrow beam allows the hull to be propelled by a modest-sized outboard jet-thruster.

Additional & auxiliary systems

Typical structural parts include one large vertical wing-like surface mounted at the rear of the plane and typically protruding below it with an airfoil cross-section shape. The fin deflects air as the aircraft moves forward, generating lifting force to support it in flight. The fin also provides stability in roll to stop the aircraft from rolling to the left or right in steady flight. The fin stabilizes the plane's yaw (turn left or right) and mounts the rudder, which controls its rotation along that axis. There is also a fuselage (a long, thin body, usually with tapered or rounded ends to make its shape aerodynamically smooth. The fuselage joins the other parts of the airframe and usually contains important things such as the pilot, payload and flight systems) and landing gear (a set of rear-wheels, front-skids and side-floats that support the Skiff while it is on the surface. The landing gear retracts during flight to reduce drag).
