Waverunner Vehicle in Wanted Hero | World Anvil

Waverunner

“I ain’t gettin on that thing.”   “Mahan’s butthairs you are. I paid good money to get you where you wanted to go, Shermin.”   “But it’s floatin’! Like in…the…air. That ain’t right, something made ‘o rock, just bobbin up and down with nuthin’ under it.   “It has to float, cause we’re going straight across the Dragon’s Chasm, from one side to the other.”   “With nuthin under us? Out there? NO WAY.”   “You said you wanted to see the North Country. You begged me to cash in my shares of the shop and take you, just once, where you asked. So I did just that. But for me to get back in time and not lose everything waiting on me, we gots to take the shorter route.”   “So yer throwing our butts out into the air with dragons?”   “It perfectly safe!”   “Yeah? Says who?!”   “Excuse me, sir? This ship is perfectly safe traveling across the Chasm, correct?”   “Long as we don’t find an angry serpent. Pretty safe most days.”   “See, Shermin? Perfectly safe.”   “Most days?”   “Come on. We’ll be fine.”   “What did he mean ‘most days’??”   “Step up. That’s right. Left foot…right foot…there you go. I’ll get the bags.”   “We’re gonna die. I just know it.”

Description

A waverunner is a floating vehicle used to traverse the width of the Dragon’s Chasm. Constructed of wood, the ship is coated in cement saturated with Cryostone fragments. Due to the variety and abundance of the fragments, the mass is able to ride the electromagnetic waves produced from the Cryostone deposits below.   At the front of the ship, a serpent is chained.   The beast has been trained to fly from one port to another–using its innate homing senses–much like a homing bird delivers messages. These great beasts are loved and cared for by the Carathu, responding to affection and food. Once the ship has cast off, the dragon is encouraged to fly towards its second home.   If all goes well, no one dies and the ship will arrive on time-ish.

You and me both---but I'd be backing a bow an crossbow for serpent seeing!   ...and only 'cause we're both insane.

I'd be sitting wherever you wait to get on this thing like: I'm too big. What's the weight limit of that? .... you know, I'd be safely trotting on foot - being jealous of y'all flyers :D But no, tbh - if it wasn't 5 smth in the morning I'd be laughing out loud from that first part!

Hehehe.....I'm 5' 10" and 348lbs.   Still remember going to a theme park and wanting to try the repelling / climbing wall.   The kid who was my "anchor" was less than half my size.   I laughed and said, "Hell no, french fry. You're too little."   He grins, "I've got this."   So I jumped.   My wife and kids laughed so hard as it took several people to get him down from hanging in the air. I just sat on the ground, refusing to move.   BUT---Cryostone? It could keep us all in the air.   ...I'm pretty sure.
