The Gods of mortals decide to leave the material plane, leaving their children to fend for themselves.

Prior to the First Age, the Gods walked among mortals across the face of Wandrei. For some inscrutable reason, they left the material plane suddenly, abandoning their children to live alone in the world. While their influence is still felt, and some extremely rare physical manifestations have been recorded, the men, Elves, and other races of Wandrei were left largely to their own devices.
