The Dreamlands

The Place Where the Dreamers Wake

The Dreamlands is another plane of existence. A strange mirror of Wandrei, the Dreamlands is the place where the subconscious minds of the beings of Wandrei go when they sleep. In the Dreamlands, these "dreamers", as they are called, can take on totally different personalities, have different jobs, or they can be completely the same; their subconscious does not make the connection that their surroundings are simply not their true reality.

That is not to say that the Dreamlands is a fake reality; it is a tangible place, although extremely nebulous, and there are even beings that call it home. The Gnorri, a race of sea-dwelling shapeshifters, originate from the Dreamlands, and are very rare on Wandrei. Some beings on Wandrei, chief among them Cats, can even stay "awake" during their time in the Dreamlands. These "awoken dreamers" retain all of their real-world memories, as well as the memories and experiences they've had in the Dreamlands.

The Dreamlands is a dangerous place, and it is saturated with magical power. Many otherworldly powers, the Great Old Ones and Outer Gods included, seek to control the power of the Dreamlands to harness its magic and grow their own. However, the Gateways to the Dreamlands are invisible and mercurial, and can only be found by the Dreamlands Cats or powerful divination magic, each of which is out of the influence of the Far Realms.

Geography

The actual land of the Dreamlands is not set; the subconscious power of the awoken dreamers can change it completely. While this does not happen often, it happens enough that the mirror of Wandrei that the Dreamlands should be is not quite accurate. For instance, there is only one large body of water in the Dreamlands, the Cerenerian Sea, and there are landmasses that float above the clouds. Some cities that reside in the Dreamlands aren't found in the real Wandrei, but are filled with fey and awoken dreamers, and can be found on lands that shouldn't be where they are.

Fauna & Flora

Any and all, although there are some denizens of the Dreamlands, such as the Gnorri, that are not readily found on Wandrei proper.

Natural Resources

Any and All, but once taken from the Dreamlands has a chance to shift into another substance entirely.
