Marija Adrijana Stojanovic (born May 15th, 2006) is a Serbian musician and the bassist for South Slavic power rock trio MAS. She is currently a student at the Von Zoutven Institute in Zurich.

Who is she?

Marija is a 17-year-old Belgrade-born musician. Her father was a soldier in the Bosnian War, while her mother was/is a supermodel. She has an older brother named Jovan, who is currently a med student.

Biography

Marija was born in the Serbian-Montenegrin capital of Belgrade. Just a few weeks after her birth, the country broke up into the modern states of Serbia and Montenegro. Her mother is Serbian supermodel Sofija Marjanovic and her father is former Bosniak private Nikola Stojanovic. She has a brother four years her senior named Jovan. For the majority of her childhood, Marija attended Darija Milošević Elementary, which is located in the municipality of Savski Venac. During her early years, Marija took an interest in several types and genres of dance. Including ballet, contemporary, and jazz. As she got older, she began to compete on regional and national levels, eventually reaching the international leagues.
During a competition in Rome, she fractured her leg, giving her the inability to walk for several weeks. This eventually led to her interest in dance being lost. She was an empty husk of a person for a few months, until her brother Jovan bought her a Fender Mustang Bass in candy apple red for her 12th birthday. Jovan had gotten Marija into the rock scene, and soon taught her the basics of bass guitar playing. They would jam together in their parents’ garage often, and soon enough, Marija was proficient at the art of bass.
In 2019, she went to a music camp in Zagreb, where she met Slovenian singer and guitarist Andrej Potocnik and Croatian drummer Stjepan Maric. Because they all had the same interests and aesthetics, they formed a band and called it “MAS”, which was made up of the initials of their names.
In 2020, Marija got accepted into the Von Zoutven Institute as a third year student after having passed their entrance exam. Telling her bandmates the news, she discovered all of them were accepted into the school, meaning they’d be around each other more often.
