Vyrodiin

On the world of Ivariil, lies the chaotic continent of Vyrodiin. A land where magic hides in plain sight around every corner. Where the barrier between this plane and the next weakens and warps the very balance of the Material. Where fantastical beasts and creatures lurk in the wilds and the very land becomes permeated with magical energy. It is a breathtaking land. But a dangerous one.
While the connection does have an effect on the people of the land, it is not universal. Magical abilities manifesting is not common, but most people living within communities or civilization have met a sorcerer before (whether or not they're aware of it). Unfortunately, opinions and views on the magically gifted vary wildly, with some cultures, such as that of the people of Helven, ostracizing and fearing them. Despite its saturation, magic isn't widely understand by a good portion of people on the continent. Many nations' governments attempt to control or regulate the use of magic, for fear of the horrors brought upon throughout history.
In modern Vyrodiin, the wounds of the Sundering still show. Just over 200 years ago, the Ngurubati empire, a nation ruled by winged dragonborn, pushed the knowledge of the arcane to its limits with horrendous consequences. Their actions brought the gods to the Material Plane where they fought each other for control. Power dynamics changed and many grew to fear what the pursuit of knowledge could lead to again. These sentiments have left the Knowing Mistress, the goddess of knowledge, already wounded during the Sundering, considerably weakened. The dragonborn wear their scars of the event on their bodies. The Platinum Dragon, Bahamut, furious at his creation's actions stripped their entire race of their flight, wingless.
