Gadarnak
God of Darkness, Betrayal, and Murder
(a.k.a. The Defiler)
Gadarnak is the god of darkness, betrayal, and murder. He appears as an imposing, powerfully built man with a bestial head with upright, square-tipped ears. As the god of murder, Gadarnak favors murders that are carried out through violent and/or treacherous means, especially ones that spread disorder and fear. Gadarnak hates the other gods of the pantheon with the sole exception of The Fury , who does not return his affection for.
Clerics of Gadarnak often operate in secret, hiding their identities and striving to appear as nothing more than hard-working, well-meaning citizens. They often will tattoo the holy symbol of the Gardarnak on their bodies but do not display it openly or in any other way indicate their beliefs. This is both an act of self-preservation and a stance from which the most savage acts of betrayal can be committed. Clerics of Gadarnak believe that murder is both a duty to their god and a game for their enjoyment. Each cleric of Gadarnak is expected to perform at least one murder every fortnight, preferably in the darkest moment of the dead of night. Clerics of Gadarnak in more lawless lands are far more likely to be open about their devotion to their master and even may flaunt it, controlling those around them through intimidation and fear.
