Personal history

Only one of two disciples, Mary was an apprentice swordsman under the tutelage of Draugr, a dreaded swordsman whose black sword summoned the spirits of the dead that he then bends to his wishes against the will of God. Mary’s family had betrothed her to the prince at a young age and a day before their marriage, she had gone and eloped with Joseph, a commoner who was Draugr's other disciple. That prince soon ascended the throne and although he had already knew of their whereabouts, he could do nothing to them as long as they were under the protection of Draugr, but this soon changed as Draugr passed away suddenly, presumingly due to age, on his last breath he passed on his sword to Joseph and told Mary, " Find a man called Ilmarinen, he'll forge anything you wish ".   A rumour spread about Draugr's death and the king got wind of it, humiliated by what Mary did to him all those years ago - the lingering rage in his heart was still not quenched. He gathered his royal knights and ordered them to retrieve Mary and bring her to him. The royal knights marched off into the countryside and ended up at a small, humble cottage where Mary was busy preparing dinner, perplexed to what was taking Joseph so long. She started feeling anxious and was relieved when she heard the door open, that was until she heard the echoes of iron and her face went cold. She rushed and grabbed a sword and in the end, out of the 568 royal knights only 283 returned in the apprehension of one woman.   Mary was taken to the kings bedchambers where he forced her to service him as retribution of what she did all those years ago, although suppressed by seals, this didn't stop her from letting him have his way with her. Mid-service she chomped hard right on his penis as her teeth severed it in two, she then chewed and swallowed it. The king squealed as his punched her right into the face as the royal knights rushed in and restrained her. The king ordered a knight to quickly summon the Mages and when they arrived he asked them if they could fix this, they did a quick inspection and replied that they couldn't without the other piece, which after being mangled and made unrecognisable by Mary’s teeth, dissolved in her stomach. In pure rage the king grabbed his sword and gouged out Mary’s eyes, resulting in permanent blindness. The king sold her into slavery where she would be abused, tortured and raped, claiming that it was benevolence and mercy that he didn’t have her killed.   Joseph returned from hunting to find his home a blazed, he dropped his quarry and bolted into the flames, although he couldn't find his wife's body, he found the corpses of many knights all housing the Royal Knights insignia, a knight order who only received orders by none other then the king himself. He marched to the royal capital and forced his way into an audience with the king and demanded what he did with Mary, in which the king mocked, "For rebelling against royalty she was executed on the spot, you can scavenge her remains from the pigs troupe and manure if you so please, hehehe!". Joseph’s heart was in turmoil as his mind was filled with refusal, he did nothing as the knights dragged him off into the dungeon to be tortured for the remaining of his life at the behest of the king. After a half-a-decade of torture, Joseph’s transformation into a Devil hellbent on destroying the world had began.   A decade later, Mary finally escaped from the shackles of enslavement and learnt of what had become of her husband and the reason behind it, after a long journey in search of Ilmarinen, she was finally able to find and meet with him. She requested a sword that would help in subduing Joseph. Before ilmarinen agreed, he asked her if she would be prepared to do anything for the completion of the sword and she replied with strong conviction that to save him she’ll go to hell and back. Ilmarinen spent 100 days and nights forging a sword, on the last day Ilmarinen told Mary that for the sword to be complete, a word was required. The word chosen would manifest a new ability in the sword based on the interpretation of said word and Mary mumbled the word ‘redemption’.   Ilmarinen slowly glided his fingers across the blade and runes appeared in crimson light, although Mary couldn’t read them, she knew that they meant ‘Redemption’. But what happened next wasn’t what she was expected, Ilmarinen suddenly turned around and plunged the sword right into her chest. She woke up the next morning as if nothing happened, proven otherwise by the lingering scar between her breasts.   All that was left in the room was a bed, mirror and an object wrapped in cloth with an envelope attached to it by string. She read through the envelope which read -   ‘As the child of Svarog and Minerva and the last heir of the Wayland Household, I have an obligation to leave no debts unsettled in this world, mine, theirs or my families. Now that the last one has been paid - I can finally go to rest without regret. But before I do, I’ll warn you that the sword is your body, and your blood is the new covenant between it, break it and it’ll curse you for the rest of your life “. She untied the string and the cloth dropped down revealing a pure white sword.   She left the house with the sword in hand and to see an extra gravestone placed between the two other graves and prayed that they could accompany each other once again. Mary began her journey to save her husband, only to stumble in immemorial ruins and activate an ancient artifact that teleported her through Realm End, leaving her trapped in a distant world which lead to her changing her name to Maeve.

Her famous saying " Sight leads one astray from the truth, condemned to the world of appearance instead of meaning, to truly understand, one must listen with the mind and feel with the heart " was something she held before the loss of her sight, who decided that instead of following the orders of her family who didn't love her and thought of her as nothing more than an exchangeable possession for politcal gain and rather then become queen and have anything she wanted, she chose to follow her heart and spend a life with the one she loved instead of living a materialistic-consumed life.
