Aricellis "Iris"

Lady of Fenren, Harbinger of Dragons Aricellis Unknown (a.k.a. Iris)

When I call Myself Goddess, is it not out of pride or showmanship. It is not out of respect or power. It is because to be divine is to know your humanity. To know that you are both infinitely more and infinitely less and abjure the possibility. To limit yourself. To abstract your power and mind. To be divine is to forsake your mortality and your possibilities. To be divine is to become an idea and ideal. So, when I call myself a goddess, it is not because I am powerful. It is because I have come to terms with my potential. I have forsaken my kindness and love. It is because I have traded my existence, my life, and my power. To become infinitely more. And infinitely less. Because to become God is the loneliest achievement one can reach.

Personal history

Aricellis was given to the Church of Pelor as a child and grew up as a member of its masses. She showed early on a talent for magic and learned to channel her divine power towards healing and supportive arts and from that she earned much support and love from the theocracy. More than a child should have been given. She had too much free reign and too little supervision. She stumbled upon a book, with just names and colors, and she could never understand it. But from the pages she found her own name, listed among others, and the only explanation she could find was in the words, "Godborn," printed on the title page. And when she learned the truth, that she had lived her whole life without knowing any of her own truth. She lost control. It all went black and the memories blurred, but when it was all over, she was burned and ashen and the church was up in flames. And it was from that moment that Iris came into being.
