Irisvirann Zezhuanthukarian

Irisvirann Zezhuanthukarian (a.k.a. The Restorer)

A Dragonborn paladin seeking to restore her kingdom to its former glory. Guided by her clan's teachings and visions of the past, Irisvirann seeks legendary objects of immense power that could destroy or restore the world.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

A 6'4" dragonborn with a slender face, similar to her Lindwurm ancestors, but with two tall horns and red frills before her ears which resemble her Dragonborn kin.   Her eyes are a rich blue, which are uncommon, but it is a superstition among the Zezhuanthukarian clan that it is a sign of a great leader as the last notable Dragonborn to have such eyes was Naosissth.

Apparel & Accessories

Often adorning the Zezhuanthukarian armour which are adorned in a rich gold to resemble the shimmering sands of Jaadoo, Irisvirann is proud to represent a clan as respectable as hers. Her armour is also embued with her holy symbol, a crest with Frumoa, the Primordial Lindwurm, in the centre, and the elements associated with them -- fire, wind, water and earth -- encircling Frumoa.   Her spellcasting pouch and book are strapped to her waist using a leather belt for easy retrieval in battle, but she always has a melee weapon and long-range weapon on her person or at least in close proximity during her travels.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Irisvirann was born into the Zezhuanthukarian clan, the Dragonborn who used to rule Jaadoo during ancient times and who headed many of its magical temples. Her mother, Eluitha, works as a librarian at a magical school on the outskirts of Mirage, where her father, Tonniltar, manages a nearby salt mine.   Eluitha is the grand-daughter of Hewash, a mage and the wisest member on the clan’s high council, and Eluitha would tell Irisvirann legends about their ancestors, of the time when the nation was a paradise, and sang Draconian hymns and psalms to lull Irisvirann to sleep. Every night while Irisvirann was asleep, her mother’s stories would appear as dreams, where she would admire religious celebrations, bask in the once peaceful Jaadoo paradise and at times, she would swear she could see lindwurms slithering in the distance, but those dreams would eventually transform into dark nightmares of war and destruction, with forests aflame and the air filled with wails that Irisvirann would wake up in the middle of the night either in tears or at the shrine to the primordial lindwurm, Frurmoa, which is situated at the oasis near her village’s border. It was as if, while she was asleep, someone was telling her to seek the ancient being.   This divided her clan, with some members, including her father, believing she was cursed to bring destruction, and others, like her mother and grandfather, believing she was possessed the spirit of the great paladin and last ancient Zezhuanthukarian leader, Naosissth, who witnessed the events of her dreams and possessed vibrant blue eyes like hers. They believed she was chosen by him to bring peace and paradise to Jaadoo. This, along with her strong connection to Jaadoo’s ancient gods, encouraged Irisvirann to follow his footsteps and train to be a paladin herself.   Irisvirann lead an isolated childhood and spend a lot of time reading old Draconian texts in her mother’s library or trying to expand the plant-life near the oasis, because of this, her mother and grandfather gave her the nickname, Restorer. When she was of age, the dreams and nightmares were getting stronger and the need to leave her small village was too great. After much deliberation and disagreement, the high council decreed that she was to seek Frurmoa’s ten teeth which, as legend has stated, will restore the paradise that Naosissth failed to protect.   Everyone, including Irisvirann, are unsure whether summoning Frurmoa would restore life and peace to not only Jaadoo but the entirety of Vlandrick, or erupt Vlandrick into another series of devastating wars, further weakening Jaadoo’s relations with other nations. But if summoning Frurmoa means Irisvirann would be considered a hero and fully accepted by her clan, that Zezhuanthukarian will have some of the power and influence they once had and her country will be redeemed from the mistakes of their past and once again as beautiful as the legends once stated, then to Irisvirann, it was worth trying. But as she journeys to find these scales, Irisvirann begins to realise that what she really wants is to be free of the burden that Naosissth has inflicted on her and to be respected, not because she hosts the spirit of an ancient Dragonborn king, but because she possesses her own courage, skill and wit that will help her lead her clan and have her nation revered once more.

Education

Irisvirann was educated about the legends of Jaadoo, Lindwurms and the Zezhuanthukarian clan by the clan elders, including her grandfather, and her mother's homeschooling -- or, more accurately, her mother's library schooling.   She was an average student, except in the realm of combat, but she was enraptured by the tales about her ancestory, Jaadoo's history and what little she did learn about the world of Vlandrick and beyond. She would often persuade her mother to end classes early so she could playfight outside, typically by herself, and imagine she was her Dragonborn ancestors defending Jadoo, dreaming of the day she might bring glory to her people.

Failures & Embarrassments

She feels intensely embarassed whenever she disappoints her clan, such as during her final test, and when she is not strong enough to conquer the challenges of her quest.

Mental Trauma

After being trusted with an emblem that beckons the Xaraxan leader, Korak, when in dire need, she used it when her party was under attack on the way from Draften to Leviathan to retrieve a dangerous magical sword in their possession, which turned out to be a grave mistake.   She feels immense responsibility for Korak's current state and is incredibly sensitive when someone mentions the incident around her. She becomes quiet and introspective for several hours to several days, attempts to pray, but struggles to reorient herself. She hopes that if she can one day live how Korak preached, she will regain his respect and her own self-respect.

Morality & Philosophy

Irisvirann strives to become an honourable leader, someone whom her clan and the people who know her name respect. However, as she continues along her quest, she has come to realise how difficult it is to know when to negotiate, when to fight and what is the correct action to take, and can only hope that when she returns to Jaadoo, she will be recognised as a more mature leader.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Courageous, honourable and whose sole motivation is to act in interest of her people and to gain their respect, even if it means that she has to act alone and has to break some moral codes for the greater good of everyone.   Her quest to retrieve Tiamat's legendary ten teeth is at the forefront of her mind and she will do anything to achieve it but it seems like the tumultousness of adventure and the shaky relations across the continent enjoys interfering with her plans.   But she does have the lingering doubt at the back of her mind that perhaps there lies a darker truth behind collecting all of Tiamat's teeth.

Virtues & Personality perks

Irisvirann used to have an intense dislike for those who desecreate holy sites and those who do not value the sanctity of life. Anyone that tampers with life unnaturally or disregards the lives and feelings of others, she believes that they should be lawfully punished.

Vices & Personality flaws

Irisvirann, due to the events of her quest, has come to realise that she may not be the most reliable person to retrieve the teeth. She is spiritually lost and ridden with guilt about her decisions, the pressure placed upon her from her clan and whether she is a worthy devotee to her Lindwurm gods if she has caused so much destruction.
