Yingella Pools Item in Visctheria | World Anvil

Yingella Pools

Created by Khilseith Yingella, the first Yingella Pool was first built in 371 AI. Capable of storing memories and turning them into a Holograph at any later point, Yingella Pools are large bowls that adapt any liquid placed inside into a memory holder.

Origins

Originating in Salman in the early Golden Age, the first Yingella Pool was created in a small river cave in Northern Salman. Yingella gathered the spell components from around the cave, following the ancient tenets of Environmental Magic to complete her spell.

Development

Yingella Pools are made with a special type of Dimensional Magic that alters the bowl the spell components are placed into, changing it into a memory storage. The spell requires nothing more than a few magic herbs and water or any other liquid, and once the spell is complete, the liquid will turn silvery and opalescent.

A magic focus can then be used to draw a memory out of the head and placed into the liquid, where it will settle and be able to be drawn out into a Holograph at any moment.

Impact

Yingella Pools were later used in the Orbital Age for both personal and medical purposes. Any citizen of the Orbital Rings could purchase a Yingella Pool for use in their home, but many medical factilities also used Yingella Pools to aid the elderly as their minds diminished. These stored memories of those who had experienced the surface of Visctheria allowed many stories of the planet to be saved, as well as further education of what life on Visctheria was like before the Impact of the Strutheo Star.

The First Pool

While extremely dangerous, Yingella risked her life to visit the surface of Visctheria and perform an ancient spell. Braving the Magic Radiation, Yingella travelled to her ancestral homeland of Salman to explore what had been left behind. Because the first spell was done on an underground pool inside the Salmanian river cave, they became known as Yingella Pools.
