Execution

As the tables are laid and night falls, a priest, typically of a religion of death, though others will be made aware of the custom and how to perform the ritual, will say a few words, bless the food and in the tongues of the region ask ancestors and loved ones to return and join the feast, using steadily more and more archaic and traditional language as he calls to older and older ancestors.

Components and tools

Lanterns will adorn every house, all along the streets leading towards the central plaza or gathering areas of towns or districts. At the centre of each plaza is a long table filled with food offerings from all those who live in the town.

Observance

Observed at the end of the harvest season, as the nights grow colder and the shadows lengthen. Though there is no official date, it is often celebrated on the first day of the eleventh month in those places where the growing cycle is no longer important, such as larger towns and cities
