Nadiracot
Nestled within the Neardire Sea at the center of Draguin, Nadiracot is covered in deciduous forests that have suffered from heavy deforestation. The presence of the Neardire Sea gives Nadiracot mild winters and hot summer months.
The main income of the country comes from their vast trading networks and fleets, both within Draguin and Iotrona. Of all the nations of Draguin, they hold the most lucrative contracts with Iotrona and have over the years steadily forced out other nations.
The deforestation of the peninsula is derived from the shipbuilding contracts that they run to maintain their supremacy. However, with no natural passages to the western ocean, they would have lost the ability to maintain that supremacy.
With clever planning and discrete action, they managed to lobby Ibral to construct the Angelo Canal to the north of Hoxal. Completing trade routes to Totester and as far afield as Eranor.
While passage through the Angelo Canal is not restricted, all ships passing through must pay either a toll or a tariff in goods, excluding recognized Nadiracot guild ships and Ibralese military or trading vessels.
The government of Nadiracot is made up of hundreds of guilds each of which govern collectively through contract law. This is carefully balanced to prevent monopolies and deliver harsh in punishment for those guilds that try to game the system.
