Dragon Jewels
Describe a rare organic material and what it's used for in your world.
All Dragons are born with at least "Dragon Jewel" visible. These jewels store power, usually the dragon's own elemental magic. Once a dragon dies, the jewel lives and carries the magic. Often refered to as a resevior, Dragon Jewels also contain memories of the dragon. Over time, the ability for those memories fade over time. Different cultures use this material differently.
Dragons: Used as a Elemental magic storage material, once a dragon dies, the jewel is removed. Depending on the elemental magic used by the dragon, different things occur. Earth Dragons have their jewels planted underground with their body and a seed. The Jewel and dragon body feeds a tree and gives back to the enviroment. Air Dragons hide their Jewels. They also place them in the highest caves or cliffs possible. Water Dragons hide their jewels in a special body water and see it as an enterance to the Afterlife that Divinties live. Fire Dragons always have warm Jewels. Their Jewels are used as Nest-Warmers.
Sciriummi/ Usually shortened to Seshatian/Sciroth: The Sciroth usually use obtained Dragon Jewels in expierments pretaining to Elemental Magic. Sometimes thin silvers of the Jewel (Air Jewels only) is used in technology.
Elves: Once an rider's dragon dies, the jewel is harvested. Currently, after the Jewel is taken, the Jewel is turned to Power-Draining Chains. These chains are used to chain magical beings and drain them of their magic. While the magic in the being replenishes, the chain often cause the body to exert itself into overproducing magic. In peace times, the Jewel is sometimes used to create a necklace for a rider whose dragon died. The necklace is plated and has a part of the Jewel and completary metal. The necklaces tend to passed down families. The necklace worn by Emily was rider necklace of an ancestor shared with Mira.
Hunters: The most brutal faction of humans. Hunters are master dragon hunters and use the Jewels for many things. The Jewels are used for things such as swords, fire starters, heat packs, and armour. Hunters often wear the Jewel of the strongest dragon they killed. These Jewels also enhance human magic. Often hunter wearers of the Jewels turn insane by the Jewel recognizing their killer and creating illusions that the wearer believes are real. (Simliar to real life disorders but do not require trauma and often are more extreme).
Villiage of Magic citizens: The Jewels are special. Riders with dead dragons recieve jewelry with the Dragon Jewel. The Tech and Science departments use Jewels in technologies. The earbuds and Morphing Spears are made of Dragon Jewels.
Alainn: Due to their anti-magic ablities, Alainn use Dragon Jewels as bargining chips. Most dragon terratories run through theirs. (Sciroth for desert dragons and Elves for forests). Exports often include Dragon Jewels are that reason. They can tap out all power from a Jewel making it empty or steal memories from the Jewel unlike other species. Most Alainn riders are special as they often take their dragon's Jewel and wear it. They are the sworn protectors of Dragon Jewel hoards.
