The Beckinsale

The Beckinsale is a ship owned by Orion Venrie. It is unknown how the bard obtained it, but the last time people saw it, it wasn't able to fly yet.  

Appearance

The Beckinsale is a gargantuan, tri-massed sailing ship equipped with a cargo hold, an outer balcony and a trebuchet. It has four rowboats, rope ladders, captain's quarters and officers' quarters.  

Captain's quarters

The captain's quarters hold a bed and a desk.  

Officers' Quarters

Four beds stand in the officer's quarters. Beneath each is an iron footlocker that holds the officers' belongings. The officers sleep in shifts so someone remains on duty to command the crew and carry out the captain's orders.

The Beckinsale is manned by a large crew. The crew isn't heavily armed but they can defend themselves with small weaponry. Some key people on the crew are:

Decks

  • Main deck The main deck holds a small trebuchet attached to the deck, a hatch leading to the lower deck, a 3-foot-high rail around its perimeter and 4 rowboats stack on top of each other on this deck.
  • Forecastle A ballista is attachted to the deck, an iron figurehead on the front and a 3-foot-high rail around its perimeter.
  • Quarterdeck The ship's wheel stands at the aft of the quarterdeck and it has a 3-foot-high rail around its perimeter.
  • Lower Deck The lower deck consists of a hold, a guest cabin and brig, the medical cabin and a privy.
  • Hold The hold houses both passengers and cargo. The ship's off-duty crew sleep on bedrolls among the crates and barrels of food, water, and other supplies.
