Oakenport is self-sufficient as they were a very close knit community. However, now the economy thives mostly on tourism and visitors. There are also a lot of woodworking guilds that craft great furniture and art.

Government

Oakenport is run by a council of women that rule in a democratic way. The inhabitants get decisions that the council proposes and then get them approved or denied. The inhabitants are happy to do this, but sometimes, this leads to no clear solutions to problems.

One outstanding law that stands out from other places, is the literal fashion police in Oakenport. If you're not looking your best, you have got to meet with the council to get your fashion straight.

Defences

There are walls surrounding the city and ocean. There are lots of guards patroling the sea around the city and on the walls, as well at ward points in the actual city.

Industry & Trade

The city is mostly selfsufficient, so there are farmers and fishers, lumberjacks and masons for the basics. But there are a lot of artists that either make art or perform. The city thrives on tourism, but also the export of great woodcrafted items, art and musical instruments. There are also some established bard colleges here that teach beginning bards the ropes.

Infrastructure

The city has a canal running through it with the residents and other buildings centered around it. There are also some watermills because of that and there is an established sewer system. The roads are well made along with the courtyards and parks. There is even a beautiful fountain in the town square and a couple of bridges. The castle is built on a bridge as well, that serves as an entrance for smaller ships while there are docks on either side of it outside of the island.

Assets

Oakenport houses different types of stores, mostly general or bookstores. But the city is also known for their musical instrument store, woodworking and art vendors. There are also great statues made of the women in the council and spread around through the districts.

Guilds and Factions

Oakenport has a union for all the essential workers, but also a lot of guilds for the entertainment part of this town. This includes a woodworking and stonesculpters guild, a painters guild, a tavern union and a bard university.

History

The original civilization of Oakenport was brought to this place by the ships of Orion started to try to cope with their new life. They started finding resources, growing crops to get around the basics, but they quickly found out that laws and rules weren't set right and they didn't have much money and resources to fix them. It quickly became a mess, until one day a pink castle appeared on the island over the river entrance near the coast. It was held by the 6 ladies and 4 men that are now part of the Pink Castle of Dreams. They provided with gold, resources and entertainment which led to the immense growth of the city.

Architecture

All buildings are well made and more modern than most settlements' architecture. Most of the buildings are made of stone or brick and adorn them with white and pink paints, lots of flowers and pink roofs. Some houses have different colored doors. Taverns have wooden paneling as decoration on the outside and show lots of greenery and flowers around them. City streets are filled with high quality pathing, courtyards and parks, with actual working water fountains and statues to fill the streets. The streets near the taverns have pink carpets laying on them for people to remind themselves to strut their best fashion.

Geography

The settlement lays in a coastal and grassland area with a river flowing right through the settlement. Not far from Oakenport is a forest where most of the lumberjacks get their wood while stone has to be mined at a smaller island nearby with a mountain on them.

Natural Resources

They have farm fields to grow crops, fruits and flowers. Sheeps, pigs and cows are wandering near those fields as well near some hills. Fish can be found in the river or sea nearby, while seafood is best caught at the smaller island of the Rugged Cay
