Planes of Existence

While the field of research is still young, as time moves forwards, more and more young arcane scientists are looking for answers about the universe. It is currently believed that the universe is composed entirely of three separate planes of existence, Eveya , The Aether, and Ignifia.
Mortal beings inhabit The Aether, with beings that exist in both Eveya and Ignifia being functionally immortal. This is because the flow of time interacts differently with these planes in a way that is difficult for a mortal mind to comprehend. The following description is not perfect, but there is no perfect way to describe the flow of time in a place the mortal mind cannot understand. For those who live, age, and die, time is an unchanging, unforgiving, unbeatable force of nature that drives the world forwards. It is the one immutable law of the world that no matter how hard we try, we cannot control. However, in Eveya and Ignifia, time behaves more like a physical dimension. One can move around freely in it just as well as mortals move in 3-dimensional space. This means that the flow of time does not dictate life, but the converse. Just as mortals can stand still, Eveyans and Ignifians can choose to stop moving in time, just as they can choose to move forwards, backward and, this one potentially being the most difficult for a mortal mind to understand, sideways.
