Vodranti Demons

The Book of Abidance, Recitation 12, Passage 98, "The Ageless Mass" (Excerpt)   18 And the thing crawled on its many arms and many legs, cybernetic and organic, a fusion of the sinful material and the tempting flesh. 19 It spoke with its endless mouths, each one spitting its dark heresies. 20 "What is man, but a derivative of itself? 21 What is the body if not an extension of the world? 22 Who are we without G-d, what is a god without us?" 23 The men were horrified. Their blades were drawn, their guns at the ready. 24 G-d willing, the creature would not suffer a moment longer.
Vodranti "demons" are actually a more broad classification for several entities.   The word "demon" doesn't actually exist in the Vodrant tongue, Xxayu. Technically, there are several different words that are translated into "demon", but due to the nature of Xxayu, several of these words are unpronounceable with the human tongue or are generally censored.   The main entities associated with the term "demon" are Rashetti, but that is a term for any spiritual or mechanical being. Evil rasheta, or "Sur-Rashet", which literally translates to "spirit-absence", are creatures of hate and destruction, and essentially the motive force for most, if not all, evil in the material world. They are deceivers, liars, destroyers, and wicked beings. They appear several times in Vodranti scripture and testimony.   But the more confusing aspect often ascribed as a demon are the Malformed Things, or "S+++m+ Kr++nnd+r". These "malformed things" are often described as "worms of human flesh" or literally "cylindrical monsters". They are rare, and when they do appear in texts such as the Book of Abidance or the Zachritian Records, they are immediately hunted down by the elite troops all the clans/legions can muster. These worms are often described as having "many legs and arms" and "all mouth", although various artistic interpretations differ on whether that means the worms have a single large mouth or are literally covered in mouths is unknown, although the "The Book of Abidance, Recitation 12, Passage 98, Verse 19" specifically states that the creatures have endless mouths, rather than a single mouth.   The worms are said to have semi-immortality, and regardless of text, they are all described as living at least 2 centuries. Some theorize that the worms are actually why the Vodranti undergo ritual suicide whenever they reach 180 years, and why no Vodranti is allowed to live beyond that age- the worms may be Vodranti who possibly underwent a sort of rampant mutation that occurs beyond that time, but it is unknown.   Notably, esoteric cults among the Vodranti intentionally create the worms and try to preserve them with cybernetic augmentation because they believe the worms can somehow commune with G-d. Passage 98 of Recitation 12 within the Book of Abidance describes the destruction of such a worm-worshipping cult.
