Sepulchre
Once the Ivory in the machinery of the Vodranti grows too far without being pruned, it will overtake the user of whatever the ivory inhabits, be it the control throne of a ship, the legendary Emuna armor, or a library.
The ivory branches slowly dig into the user's skin, seeping into their flesh, into the bone, and into the brain, in the pursuit of information, fusing the user to it, creating these machine-man hybrids known as Sepulchres. These sepulchres are often kept in ships as advisors, since they are essentially a hivemind of information. As the wearer's body is devoured, the machinery is able to be used again. Some intentionally leave the ivory unpruned for the sake of creating Sepulchres.
Cults form around them, even.
The ivory will intentionally kill the inhabitant before they turn 180 to prevent something horrible from occuring.
