¹And on the fifth day, Myx Hiy^a lamented, both for his sins and for his family. ²But there was no pity to be seen in the eyes of the people. ³No mercy to be seen in the eyes of his executors. ⁴And within the venerable throne-hall that his guards brought him to, there lay the carvai table. ⁵Upon that table he was bound by flesh. And he wept bitterly, tears pouring freely even before his skin was flayed and his bones carved. ⁶The people were silent as they witnessed the ordeal, including the Gesala^b as they watched the excruciation throughout (for such is the Custom). ⁷And when he finally died 9 Gregorian hours later, there was still silence. ⁸And the people were dismissed as the body was anointed in fiery oils. ⁹Such is the consequence of fratricide (fratricide warranting a death more painful than regicide, despite his brother's rank).

A carvai table is a modified surgical table for a victim to be set upon. It is utilized in a variety of execution or interrogation methods in Vodranti culture, but the most notorious usage is in "death inubria", where the prisoner is induced with adrenaline to ensure pain, but prevent immediate death by shock as their skin is surgically removed and their flesh torn to the bone. The hooks that are forced beneath the shoulder blades and through the knees to bind the prisoner are kept sterile to prevent infection. Death by illness would be unfitting, after all.
