Vesta

Industry has come to fantasyland. A variety of rail technology powered by magic, steam, and dragon breath dissect the continents, largely owned by immortal elven rail barons playing the long game of competitive profiteering over hundreds of years. Of course there are ocean-faring ships, but rail is the new way of the future.   Halflings sing songs of green, pre-industrial prairies lost. Dwarves battle dragons to regain their ancient homeland under the mountain. Orcs and goblins, original inventors of the steam engine, toil for meager wages. Humans raze old forests, harvesting unimaginable quantities of rare magical components to extend the reach of their coal-less runestone engines.   The planet map is adapted from a topographical map of the real-life minor planet 4 Vesta, the second-largest body in the asteroid belt.
