Temple of the All-Hammer

Moradin is the father of dwarfkind, but he opened his arms to all races after the Dawn War. He is now hailed as the god of craftsmanship, loyalty, and family, which makes him especially popular with working-class folk.
Dwarven Temples of the All-Hammer are given a dedicated chamber within the stronghold, decorated with the best creations of its people. Other times, his temples are almost indistinguishable from an ordinary workshop when seen from the outside. But in any case, the main centerpiece of the temple is a burning fire with an anvil (which serves as an altar) sitting before it. The fire, which may be a large hearth or a brazier, is kept burning at all times, and many people customarily take a few coals from it to light their hearth when they establish a new household, or to start up a new forge.

Worship

Moradin isn't much for pageantry. He's the kind of god who appreciates actions over words, so for his followers, the best way to honor him is an honest day's work and sincere adherence to his laws. He is impressed by feats of craftsmanship, acts of loyalty, and simple, quiet endurance in the face of hardship.

Sects

  • The mainline clerics of Moradin focus on promoting his values of family, labor, and integrity by living them. Many are tradesfolk on the side, and they often officiate weddings and coming-of-age ceremonies.
  • The Order of Torchbearers exists to serve the needs of working people. Members must be actively involved in a craft guild, mining company, or other such organization, where they support their fellow laborers. Depending on the type of work, this can mean keeping an eye out for workplace hazards, helping to carry food and water to the job site, healing those injured in accidents, or even standing up against corrupt bosses. Their name comes from the dwarven tradition of having a few members of each mining party designated as "torchbearers", who would carry their torches or lamps ahead of the group to scout for danger. It's a dangerous, and therefore honorable job.
  • The Order of the Silver Hammer consists of more warlike followers of Moradin, who are dedicated to fighting the evil entities of the Underdark.
