Mountain dwarf

The mountain dwarves are the source of many dwarven stereotypes. They're strongly built, with brown skin and dark hair, which they keep in simple, practical styles.

Culture

Common Dress code

Mountain dwarf fashion tends towards more practical styles. They spend most of their day in work clothes like coveralls and aprons, and everyone wears trousers while working. These clothes are in simple earth tones and tough materials that can hold up to some wear and tear.
On special occasions, they switch to brilliant jewel tones, resplendent with intricate embroidery and fine metal accents. Dwarven finery is downright gaudy, even among the otherwise dour mountain dwarves.
One notable custom is wearing various ornaments in their hair (including beards) to signify their life accomplishments. Beads of different types represent great works and victories in battle. Married dwarves wear golden caps on their braids, switching to silver if they're widowed. Gold rings are added to their side braids for every child they've had, on the left side for sons and on the right for daughters.

Coming of Age Rites

When a young dwarf turns fifty, they are then considered an adult, and they go before the clan elders to be given a permanent job. They also start wearing their hair in braids.
