Plate Armour
Item type
Armor
Raw materials & Components
Plate armour can be made from a wide variety of metals and materials. Most commonly, steel is used due to its ubiquity and the fact that most armourers know how to work it. Almost all Human armour is made from steel. The Dwarves also use steel, but often coat it in other metals either for protective purposes or aesthetic ones. The Tolkrun-Miond Bronzebacks are an example of an elite regiment who wear bronze-coloured plate armour.
Elves have other means of protecting themselves and usually forgo heavy plate armour, but some Elven examples exist- highly prized by Men, who can wear them with relatively few alterations.
The Mortal Elves of Dhul Mabran are known to craft their own unique type of plate armour from the resin of the Black Benarus tree, but how exactly this process works remains a secret to outsiders. The resultant armour is dull yellow-gold in colour and extraordinarily strong.
Giants do not use plate armour, due to the prohibitive cost of a suit to cover their entire frame.
