  Appearance:
Ophidians are a mesmerizing blend of humanoid and serpent. Their upper bodies resemble that of a human, but their skin is adorned with smooth, iridescent scales. These scales shimmer in sunlight, reflecting a myriad of colors. Their lower bodies are that of large serpents, powerful and capable of swift, sinuous movement. Their eyes are vertical slits, reminiscent of reptiles, and can come in a range of colors from gold to deep green. Their hands, while humanoid, have slightly elongated fingers with subtle claws.
  Lifespan:
Ophidians have a longer lifespan than humans, averaging around 150 years. They age gracefully, with their scales gaining more luster and depth of color as they grow older.
  Culture:
Diet: Ophidians have a preference for raw foods, especially meats. This dietary choice is often accompanied by rituals, especially during full moons where they engage in the "Serpentine Dance", a mesmerizing dance that celebrates their connection to nature and the arcane.
Matriarchal Society: Ophidian communities are often led by a matriarch, the eldest and wisest female who has a deep connection to the ley lines.
Rituals: Apart from the "Serpentine Dance", Ophidians also have a coming-of-age ritual where young ones venture into ancient ruins to retrieve a shard of a ley line crystal, proving their connection to the arcane.
Art: Beyond stone tablet carvings, they are also known for crafting intricate jewelry that resonates with ley line energy. These pieces are not just ornamental but also serve as arcane focuses.
  Abilities:
Cold-Blooded: Ophidians are ectothermic, which means they rely on their environment to regulate their body temperature. This makes them more active during the day and in warmer climates.
Constrictor's Grasp: Their serpentine lower half is not just for movement. In combat, they can use it to constrict and immobilize foes.
Arcane Resonance: Ophidians can not only sense disruptions in the arcane field but can also tap into these energies to enhance their spells or abilities temporarily.
  History:
Ancient Pacts: Legends speak of an ancient pact between the Ophidians and dragons, where they were granted guardianship over certain ley lines.
The Great Sundering: A historical event where a faction of Ophidians attempted to harness too much power from the ley lines, leading to a catastrophic explosion and the creation of a vast desert.
  Relations with Other Races:
Feykin: The Feykin and Ophidians often collaborate in rituals to ensure the balance of nature and arcane is maintained.
Gloomkin: Ancient texts speak of a time when Ophidians and Gloomkin were allies, but a betrayal led to deep-seated mistrust.
Aviar: Ophidians often trade with the Aviar, exchanging arcane knowledge for rare feathers and aerial perspectives.
Solari: The Solari, with their radiant nature, are often seen as a counterbalance to the Ophidians. While they might not always agree, they respect each other's roles in the world's balance.
Homelands: Ophidians prefer warm, tropical climates. They often build their settlements near ley line nexuses, with architecture that spirals and winds like serpents. These settlements are often hidden, blending seamlessly with nature, be it within dense jungles or winding canyons.
