Ulgar Anvilbreaker

Showing his Clan His magical skill was admittedly a mistake. He will show them that his ways can bring honor, and profit....well more profit than honor really. but that's what counts.

Undead and Elves, and soon Undead elves.

Bored. I have been drawing plans for weeks. I need to hit something. I wont be able to become the success I need to be to show my clan my worth by sitting in town. While I was walking to my paltry hovel one of the guards stopped me, whispering clandestinely to Meet with Ser Gurst for a mission. What the hells, like I said, I am bored. I showed up and saw a friend from my last mission. And several other talented looking individuals. Gurst told us that we would be competing with some pansy ass commander to kill some undead. Childs play, but maybe good for study material. WE stopped by the lady in the lake again on our way out. On a whim I decided to toss one of these odd coins. Then as directed I drank the lake water…..and promptly puked…a sapphire. Noted. As we were leaving Ser Gurst informed us there was an assassination planed on pansy boy. Well yay? But I guess we need him for some political BS. So we traveled with him to keep him safe. The next night we set out to hunt some undead. Have to beat this fool, lot of gold at stake. Some zombies fell to our prowess. But my owl, ( who still has not given me their name,) noticed that we were being watched. So I mentioned to our littlest member Finnan where they were. And he disappeared through his own skill no magic required and ambushed our ambushers while I lead the troop as a distraction. I should have closed distance more then I did however, when Finnan sprung his trap we were too far away to support him properly. What happened next was proper chaos. The assassins where very skilled. Their poison sunk into my colleagues. They dodged all my best spells. It was not my best showing. But one ran, the other… filled out our count for the contest. Then we returned to the camp to check on our unknowing charges. They had been hit by more of the assassins, five of their knights died. The Idiot was still alive. We returned him to town seeing as we had more undead heads anyway. Now with a 100 platinum in my purse I have plans to work on…..

First Books Now Trees

I was getting restless. Too many days of nothing but work, eat, sleep. needed more coin so I wandered over to the job board. As I approached I saw my friend Rhogar and another staring at the board. the other man was.... a curious sort. Gnar Bor he called himself. Had a great big furry-tusked mask on, I did not ask him to remove it...   We chose a job to work together on, A local Priest needed ingredients to complete a ritual before the Dead started with their yearly hubbub. Smart, uncontrolled Undead can be a danger to the public. best to make no pass zones for them.   We set out, and I have to say that Gnar, while eccentric is to say the least, is quite good at following his nose. he lead us straight to a tree with the required herb. While I tried to recover the plant for us the Damned tree attacked me!   Well, this did not sit well with us. between the three of us we made sort but violent work of it. finished collecting our sage and returned it to The priest.   After that, we went to the pub and celebrated....I don't remember much past that point....

The Perfect Kwartz

I have started falling into a rhythm here in Glenhaven. I work during the days putting my skills as a mason on paper for the workers to bring to life. Then night comes and I return to my hotel to drink and read.   And wish there was Proper Stone to Work With!!   Oh yes wood is fine i suppose, but I am a damned Dwerg! A son of the Anvilbreakers! And I will have stone.   An acquaintance of mine, one Lulubell Turem who introduced me to my first portal not to long ago, mentioned that she knew of a mine full of precious gems but two days north west from here. Granite holds gems. Well worth the look. Despite the circumstances of its previous workers.   Lulu was eager to help and I was able to convince my friend Rhogar to help as well. I even met a fine young man by the name of Atlas Ambrose. A half orc of all things but dressed much nicer then I. Quick of wit and quicker of fist he was.   I was able to talk the Commander of the Knights of the Elk not only to pay my companions wage which would have been enough to please me in it self, but also to sign me over the deed to the mine should we render it safe!!   We promptly obained a horse and carriage and set off.   It was a mild trip to the mine. Lulu and I exchanged notes on spells to pass the time. I summoned my first familiar, but he has yet to let me know how to address him.   When we reached the mine we promptly set in. I felt much better with my new armor. Reminded me of home.   Then we saw the first body. Then another. And several more after that. Workers who had family back in Glenhaven. What a waste of potential. Just like my Cousin.....   Their chests were blown out. Somthing came out of them. And we found them in a pool. Growing. We made quick work of them. Then went serching for their forebear.   The beast was waiting for us further in the mine. Digging. Frantically digging. Well at least until it became aware of us. Rhogar and Atlas put the pain to the beast while Lulu and I picked at it from range. In the end it became study material.   Lulu took charge of the dissection and I did my level best to not slow her down. She is one I will be learning from for sure.   Safe for now we investigated as best we could. The aura of conjuration has me worried. I will need to hire extra gaurds for my soon to be mine. With not else left to do we... burned.... the bodies. And returned to town. Reported to Commander Gerst and collected our pay.   And my deed. To The Perfect Kwartz mine!

Extra dimensional books are mean.
13th of Aurun

13th of Aurun.   I finally got to town today. Quickly looked for a drink. It was a long road. I miss my armor, but best not dwell on family matters.   Not long there after as a warm meal and mead warmed my belly I saw a posting for work. Good need the money to pay for food. Maybe some place to sleep.   I meet my parters in....task? Yes. In the presence of one Ms LuLu. Lulu and her Book. What a book it is. Crisp pages, bound tight. Still smells feashly pressed. Knowledge is waiting.   She utters the word, "scepter," and I kid you not. A portal opened! I near skipped through haha. All of the studies I was not supposed to pursue and here I am walking through a portal.   Soon after we entered wh ran into the boy we were supposed to rescue. He left and foolishly released a devil with him, and shut the portal before we had a chance to exit. I will get to that detail later.   The troop and I started to explore looking for a way out. My new colleague Adrian discovered that the books all containd a letter on their spine. Smart one that boy, i should like to work with him again. And books that did not particularly appreciate our presence. My jaw is still swore from one such encounter. And a rather rude book case that had personal space issuses forced me to have a bit of a nap, thankfully my companion picked up my slack.   But what I remember most is the books we left behind on that shelf. And the blasted enchanted chains that foiled adding the to my collection. I may have to go back one day.   Once we deciphered the code we left quickly to add our employer with the fiend that im sure would be causing them troubles.   Rhogar who is wiser then he gives himself credit for used flour of all things to foil the invisibility of the foul creature. And when my fellow dwarf Dwufe called his gods wrath down I distracted the beast just as our dragonborn secured a vicious blow. Weakened now, Dwufe walked forward and melted our foe with holy might.   I must say for my fist day here it was quite exciting. Meeting new people has never been my strong suit. To meet three in one day that I actually like? A rarity for sure.   Wish I could have read those books.....
