Scouting Report: 5/21/1420 Welcome to Glenhaven
5/21/1420

Provided escort to caravan going to Kelm. Was to then meet with and join a carriage transporting new settlers to Glenhaven one of which being a volunteer soldier from Onira. No incidences to report on the journey to Kelm. 2 Weeks into the return journey spotted smoke rising over trees from the road. Scouted forward with one Finnan Tealeaf to assess and found a camp comprised of conscripted soldiers from the kingdom of Lurgas. Enemy soldiers numbered 8 commoners with shody weaponry and 1 of rank. (Later identified as one Captain Gregor) Rejoined other members of party, one Mathias Oberhelm, and one Takamochi Tozawa, and one caravaneer Joe to report. Concluded that the soldiers were planning to waylay caravans and interrupt our supply lines. Made an executive decision that sufficient ally troops were present and upon consultation with the group decided to take the enemy leader out as the morality of the enemy was in question. Finnan and myself took to the trees while Takamochi and Mathais halted the passage of a merchant caravan and acquired their aid. We began with an ambush using ranged attacks to attempt to take down the leader. After taking several shots the captain was severely weakened and resorted to using his allies as shields. Upon seeing this Takamochi and myself engaged in melee to hopefully avoid this from happening again. Takamochi had cast upon himself a spell which allowed him to duplicate himself via illusion magic. We concentrated our efforts on the captain while Mathias convinced a few of the soldiers to surrender and stand down, but the captain killed one of his own men to intimidate the others into continuing to fight. Not wanting to chance another casualty I took a last stab at the Captain and he again went to reach for a humanoid shield. This time attempting to grab Takamochi! His efforts were in vain as the Takamochi that he attempted to grab was, in fact, an illusion and my dagger struck true dealing a finishing blow to his vitals. We provided standard burial via cremation and gave prayers to the Radiant Trinity. Took the surviving enemy soldiers into custody and finished the journy to Glenhaven.

The Wailing Woods
Solaris 25 1420

Went towards the dread swamp and got across a river to find a forest.   Felt supernatural urge to venture forth.   Followed the sounds of wailing into the woods where we were locked into a labyrinth   Found 2 big frogs and killed them.   *2 poison glands   Krug tripped on a root and it turned out to be a silverwood tree root but we couldn't find the tree it belongs to. 3 inch wire of silverwood tree root acquired   Going further the odor of the swamp became more apparent and the ground became wetter   The footprints we were following into the maze got more sluggish until it looked as if the body was being dragged.   We made this our priority even though the tracks were a few days old   Encountered a group of 3 goblins out of their wits. Attempted to make contact with them but they were unresponsive. They seemed to be too afraid to move.   Despite our efforts the goblins would not communicate with us and refused to move. We decided to leave them and continued   Found a sapling in a small outcropping and dug around it to find that it had been growing out of a humanoid foot   In the next room we found a tree growing in the middle of it. Upon further inspection we found that when cut its sap was more like blood and that there was a distinctly humanoid face in the back of it. We theorized that this was somehow the person we had followed inside and continued on.   We found a door that opened upwards but when we went to open it we forced it open and force it to become stuck on the monster inside. Which was a 12 foot tall fungal zombie monstrosity.   The next room was impossibly repugnant and i am ashamed to say the smell forced me to evacuate my stomach. We quickly left and made our way to another door that was trapped but due to its magical nature I was stumped on how to open it. Kurg smashed it in and we all managed to overcome the forthcoming poison attack and remain unscathed.   In the next room we found another door blocked by a cipher I was able to decipher the code after much difficulty and was able to translate it to. “Venture no further lest you feel the wrath of the Scarlet Vine. Your flesh will become rot and ruin. Then your innards mulch for the Silverwoods. Heed this warning elf.”   As we were growing tired we decided to leave the woods and head back to town.
