Recover the Fallen
6th of Valenfest in the year 1420 A.D.

6/28/20: Set out from Glenhaven with Beatricks and Draco traveling south by south west following the river. Destination, a small farmstead that was the scene of a battle between goblins and a group of warriors from Glenhaven. Goal, recover the corpses of the fallen warriors and return them to Glenhaven for proper funeral rites.   6/29/20: Broke camp for the night. During our rest we were visited by a forest guardian, a giant owl. I take comfort in knowing this beast watches over us.   7/02/20: Arrived at the farmstead to find it under the control of a necromancer. After thorough inspection of the area I have concluded that this necromancer has a firm hold on this place. Direct confrontation would be foolish. The necromancer is a strange rabbit like humanoid named Mox. They agreed to give us three of the four bodies that we came for. This will have to suffice for now, however I have no intention to let this go so easily. I will need to gather more information about this Mox before taking action.   7/06/20: We arrived back at Glenhaven with the three bodies. I instructed the healers to purify them of their necromantic taint before burial. I informed the Knights of the Elk of my findings.

Basilisk Hunt
6th of Jali, year 1420 A.D.

I gathered a group of companions to hunt down and slay as many basilisks as we could find. Normally a solitary beast, the fact that so many had been spotted in the same territory could only mean there was a nest somewhere near by.   We found a set of tracks by the river up north and followed them southwest for two days. The trail led us to a cave where we found a petrified boar outside, further solidifying we were on the right track.   It was pitch black inside the cave. The only one of our group who could see was the Alfar druid. This was probably for the best as the darkness protected us from the basilisk's petrifying gaze. We found and slayed a mated pair of the beasts as well as discovered four of it's victims and their nest.   The young basilisks were in a pit that they were still to small to climb out of. Rather then kill them and destroy the remaining eggs we agreed it would be more humane to leave them for now in hopes to return and relocate them at a later time.   Further into the cave we found an underground lake with a strange serpent like basilisk living within it. The beast attacked us and turned two of our number to stone with a mucus like secretion that oozed from it's skin.   IMPORTANT: The Druid Roland and I discovered that the stomach acid of a basilisk is able to reverse the petrification process, altho it does cause painful skin irritation.   After killing the serpent we were able to gather enough stomach acid to revive both of our party members as well as the for victims we found in the cave. We discovered another statue under the water but were supposed by the fact that it was a mimic disguised as another victim. Mimics are such crafty creatures.   After making short work of the monster we did find another body floating in the water. This one had not been petrified and seems to have drowned instead. The victims we saved confirmed that the body was one of theirs, a young noble from Gildengard who wished to make a name for himself as an adventure. It seems this life was not cut out for him. The men carried the body home with them to inform his family as we parted ways to return to Glenhaven.

The Star Egg
27th of Lunesti, year 1420 A.D.

I joined a group of companions in a quest to help an eccentric old man. He says that a star had fallen from the sky the night before and he wished for us to find it and collect the "star metal" for him.   After confirming the direction that this star fell, we began to travel south by south west for two days, making camp at night. As we came closer to our destination, we began to notice some strange things. The forest was quiet, and animal tracks could be seen running away from the area we were heading. A strange laugh could be heard like that of a child, echoing through the trees. We attempted to discover the source of the sound but to no avail. We moved onwards.   Finally we arrived at the landing sight. The Star had formed a crater in the ground, and seemingly caused a forest fire that had gone out by the time we arrived. This could be what scarred the animals away. We began to work on breaking up the large rock into more manageable pieces to carry back to camp. As we continued to work we discovered that at the center of the star rock there was a strange red egg, about 2ft tall. We should have destroyed it right then and there but Oculo insisted we try to sell it.   We made camp that night and were set upon by a strange sight. Ghosts or spectral apparitions of some unknown creatures came shambling towards us. They were speaking in a strange tongue that could only be understood by the magic of my companions Lulu and Jor. Apparently they were trying to warn us of the egg and the danger it posed to us, but at the time we did not understand.   The next morning we gathered the star metal using a make shift sled that I crafted and began to head back to Glenhaven. We made excellent time, not realizing the fact that we were unencumbered by our heavy load.   When we arrived back at the main camp we began to realize what had happened. No one acknowledged our existence, and when we tried to physically interact with someone our hands passed right through them. We were trapped in the ethereal plane. After inspecting ourselves we noticed a thin ethereal cord connected to the back of each of our heads that went off in the direction where we found the egg. Our bodies had never left.   Sprinting back to the crater, there was no need to stop and rest as our spirits could not tire. When we arrived we witnessed in horror as the egg we thought we were carrying the entire time was at the center of the crater, now 12ft tall. Our bodies were laying around the base of it covered in a mucus like fluid with a long fleshy cord connecting them to the egg.   Jor attacked the egg with his magic, causing it to crack, at which it hatched into an unspeakable horror. Some spider like being with the face of a human child. It was truly hideous. At this point our spirits were reunited with our bodies. We fought our way out of the mucus pod and set to work on destroying the abomination. It was a difficult fight as the creature was able to dodge our attacks with supernatural agility, but finally I saw an opening and was able to place an arrow between it's haunting black and green eyes. It's skull caved in at the point of impact and it began to implode on itself, leaving behind nothing but a single black orb the size of a coin.   Exhausted and weakened from our encounter, we rested ourselves before heading back to Glenhaven with the star metal we collected. The old man had better pay us well for our trouble.

Scouting report
14th of Lunesti 1420 A.D.

after traveling south of the abandoned temple, my companions and I came across a strange lake. It seems that there is a spirit of some kind that dwells within the lake. This spirit will accept electrum coins in exchange for a boon of sorts.   Continuing our journey south around 200 feet we came across a patch of violet fungus. this mushroom is a violet color as the name implies and have a sort of spongy flesh. They are dangerous as they rot the flesh of anything they touch with their whip like tendrils. If you see any it is best to engage them from a distance or simply avoid them all together.   We traveled south another 100 feet where we found a cave. Before exploring to far into the cave we were harassed by a quickling, a native of the fey wilds. It warned us that going to far into the cave would get us eaten by its master, a creature by the name of Gunk. The fey would not give us any details about this "Gunk" only that it was its ruler. At this point we decided to return to camp, not wanting to poke the sleeping bear. Especially since the quickling was being very rude by throwing apples at us.   On our way back to camp we cam across fresh basilisk tracks leading from east to west. We elected not to pursue at the moment and continued back to town.
