Ivellios Amastacia

Ivellios Amastacia (a.k.a. Bryn)

I have lived over 2 centuries on the Continent of Northern Aetrus and life is just grand…or it would be. I grew up in Ludum Praecontatio, a young Anoralfar running about the libraries within, trying to keep out of trouble, trying anyway., or the streets of my home, Daoinfel. My mother, Quelenna Amastacia, was a librarian here. She was beautiful for an Anoralfar, as we all are, but she was truly a diamond among rubies. She was organized, very graceful and studious. She learned some of the magics within and decided to put her learned skills to the test by becoming an adventurer for a time. My father was the always more the academic than she. He was powerful but too curious for his own good. When I was younger he had an unfortunately accident in preparation for a higher type of magic, it yielded unfortunately results and claimed his life. I have very few found memories of him but he did leave me with my most faithful of companions, his familiar, Amaia. Amaia and I were left with a friend of the family, Drusilia Nailo, a practitioner herself but of an apprentice level.   My mother spent a few years delving into various dungeons and thwarting bandits along the road. She was making a name for herself but all of that came to an abrupt end. She had found her way into a tomb, she has yet to tell me which one or where it was located for fear that I may go in search of revenge or something of the kind. Within it, her and her party encountered some sort of mummy lord. The creature imparted a disease upon her flesh, a sort of rot. Many of the mages of Ludum Praecontatio have attempted to cure disease but have been entirely unsuccessful. At most, they found a way to keep the rotting at bay, but it has taken its toll on her. Her flesh has deteriorated and it causes her much pain and discomfort. Spells and components are expensive, even for one of the librarians’ salaries. Keeping her consistently healed has all but drained her finances dry. We have had to make many sacrifices, to which I happily acquiesce. In my youth, I had no way to support her; I was too young and not quite magically inclined enough to learn the spells needed to keep her comfortable. Once I was old enough to leave, I set out into the world. For one as small and as slender as I was, I learned quickly how to “alleviate” some of the wealthier members of society of their incredibly heavy coin purses, with the help of the ever faithful Amaia who served as both distraction and as a means of carrying coin. At first it went well, and then I was caught by the town guards and thrown in prison for a few months…first offense and all that. While I was in prison, I met an interesting human name Montilio, he gave me no surname, and I now know this was on purpose. He told me he could teach me not to be caught, he told me he could show me how to use misdirection and quick hands to be my greatest weapons. After I got out, he showed me how there are many more folks like me, and how we could succeed as a group to complete great tasks. Every time we completed a job, I sent my cut to my mother, to help pay for the spells that keep the rot away. And that’s how it went; I would steal what I could, from the wealthiest of folks I could find, my hands in their pockets or their coin purses removed from their belts or tossing their coin bags to Amaia who would wish them away to a discreet location where I could retrieve them and her. The year have flown by and still I manage to keep my mother in the life style she has become accustomed, and still I have done my best not to be caught and steal only what is needed. Though recently, I feel like the Night Vale Coven Montillo introduced me to, has begun asking for services I do not provide. It has become increasing difficult to say no to so many requests, but I am not an assassin by trade and they know this, yet still they ask. No, I will not cross that line for them; I do not wish to harm anyone, I do not wish to take the life of anyone who has not done harm to me or my kin. If they persist with their unsavory requests, I may have to leave the Night Vale Coven all together.

I am an elf of many talents, naturally. I have many friends in both high and low places, but my one true friend is my owl Amaia. Handsome silver - white hair, blues eyes with silver specks

Why is it always dragons?!?!?
27th of Reitum

BRYN NIGHTINGALE   I don't know if it's me but I always seem to find myself with dealing with dragons....Always Dragons!! Some very good friends of mine, experienced adventurers and a few close compatriots, get wind of a temple high up in the nearby mountains, and they say there are these crazy lizard-folk tribe, and dark tunnels and dragon statues that talk! and eggs, 100's..no.....thousands!!! of eggs.   I had stopped listening some where around lizard folk tribe, however when they said "treasure", I decided I should accompany my friends in case they need my help! of if they found any pretty gems they didn't want! (cute smile)   So we make the trek out there, following my very pretty Friend, B. It was easy getting to the foot of the mountain but then we had to start the climb. IT TOOK DAYS, I almost feel the first day, and friend almost fell the second day, it was nuts, there had to be an easier way to make that climb....   Anywho, we get to the top and decide to sleep of the climb, it was night anyways, but it was mostly dull, Squidgy, my bat friend got to come out from under my cloak and enjoy the night air. After flying around a bit tho, Squidgy said she heard people near but couldn't make out exactly where they were. So the night goes well and we set out in the morning.   It turns out this temple is in the shape of a massive dragon and we are walking on it's spine like it's a bridge and this thing is sooo big that it's like several fields long so we walk and walk and walk and then these creepy LIZARD-FOLK were hiding and were gonna jump us but I through an ice knife and hurt them and my friends shot arrows and crazy spells and we ended up winning the fight and finding the crazy huge mouth of the dragon that had a special code word to open the mouth and Squidgy found more creepy crawly things inside that we squished...(takes a breathe) soit was super dark, like darker than I have ever seen and we found an acid dragon statue that didn't talk and but was trapped all over and we found a safe spot to take a breather cause we were really hurting from all the walking and that's when the black dragon ghost talked to us and asked for a favor so went tried to go do that favor but found a cool looking blue dragon shaped throne and one of are friends REALLY want to go see it so I went to go check out and there were dead bodies there with a bunch of GROSS bugs! EWWWW RIGHT!! But it gets worse cause across the room, one of my friends shouts "they're flesh eating beetles!" and I was like "WHAT THE FU!!!!!" and just started running!!!   Crazy right!! So we end up finding some treasure which was aweosme but couldn't make good on our deal with the black dragon but i think we are gonna go back soon. That temple was sooo crazy but we made it out alive. In any case, I cannot wait to go back!!!!

New Tavern, New Recruits, and a Grand Heist!!!!
9th of Reitum

I swear this to be a true accounting of what I could only say was one of this most incredible days of my life. Where to even begin? The Hollow? the news of the Godfather? My expert compatriots? our new recruits and the pay day...the PAY DAY!!!   The wonderful tavern, the Songbird's Hollow, is finally up and running and already making a killing. Then a courier arrives with a letter from the Godfather of House Nightingale. He expresses his pride in us and wishes to meet......oh good lord, this is nerve racking, ..... we should find a gift to present him. The furnishes are all new, as are the tables and stools, the drinks are well stocked for now and hopefully will remain so for his arrival, but a truly glorious gift will curry much favor.   In the last few days, My favorite Brother has returned to our fair Glennhaven with an excited look on his young face. He says that our old acquaintance, Dorfex Trailblazer, recent secured himself a hefty payload, apparently as payment for securing the hamlet. He claims the payment comes in the form of gold bars....my Brother is young but incredibly observant and perceptive. And the wild look in his eyes tells me he what he saw is the truth.   We informed our Sister and she was very happy to hear that we may soon find ourselves with an influx of coin. We get to speaking and find our topic swing in regards to the recent rash of pickpocketing.....I swear it is not I. We realize that there are a few new followers of the craft in our little town and so we put out a call to them, if they are any good, perhaps they could join our little troupe, and if not, fall men are always good to have around.   We invite two potential recruits into the Hollow, gave them the whats-what, and a bit of discipline as to rules regarding the Hollow. They agree and we let them in on the prize and decide to do a bit of reconnaissance as well as treat this heist of ours as a way of testing their skills. My sweetpea played her role so perfectly, as if anything less could have been expected, She...and my Brother.....heard everything, what would I do without my darling and truest friend. There are decoys, There are hired Thugs, There are booming noises and fast horses.... Dorfex is a clever clever man.   As it turns out, these new Recruits are quite skilled, I am very impressed. Using one of there Contacts, our personal fence, we were able to learn there were 3 cases leaving Glennahven at dawn. They both entered Dorfex's tent, silent yes but aided by our Sister's magics. She is so lovely and resourceful, I certainly wish to learn more about her. They find a sealed letter with the correct label for OUR prize so we decide to use Brother's horse and Sister's cart and leave Glennahven for a few days, ahead of the destination of the 3 packages. Gildengard.   Of course Dorfex would hire Embermane Mercenaries, the best of the best guards to move his hoard. They are heavily armored, but perhaps they would stop for one of their own. We are days ahead of the cart and are lying in wait....One cart....two cart. And now our cart. Brother and I position ourselves on the road, disguised at the Embermane guards ourselves. We are not here to kill anyone, should they stop, we will have them disembark and hand over the treasure., no one should be harmed ......The guards were not stopping soo.......   DEAR GODS WHAT HAVE I DONE!!!! I....I only meant to fell the horse...... The lady of the lake had blessed my bow.....I had no inkling that striking the horse with such force would cause the carriage to Jackknife. It flung the driver to my feet a good 60 yards, he was unconscious! One of the hired soldiers were badly hurt the other manage to brace himself and then began to engage but before either could reach me, my comrades peppered them with arrows. Killing one of them and knocking the other unconscious as well!! My favorite Sister aided the driver and the final guard with her magic in order to save the man's life, I felt so terrible to gave the driver a small sack full of gold... I hope when he awakens he will be no worse for the ware. We unloaded the package and loaded the two knocked out men into the carriage and sent it on his way, keeping the magical bridles the horses kept in their mouths.   Of course Dorfex was clever enough to trap the package, but due to our recruits findings of the sealed letter before, they knew the password and disabled the trap. Then with a bit unlocking and disabling of the secondary trap, a naughty pistol waiting to puncture my face, we had our prize in hand. Then came the issue of how to get it home, under the cover of darkness, certainly, but knowing Dorfex would soon depart after his package, we decide to wait him out. We do manage to spot him leaving, seemingly none the wiser that his package had been pilfered. We bring the box in with our bars and who awaits us in our closed tavern? Mother Sparrow herself, it seems some other little birdy tipped her off on our score. She demanded no tribute this time, but applauded us for our ingenuity and foresight to prepare for the Godfather's arrival. We invite our Fence and by the gods!! He can actually talk, will wonders never cease!!! He too is a crafty one, able to fence our haul on the spot. You know being apart of this family surely is beneficial, I should go and check on mother soon.   But first, we three must deal with an over zealous Sheriff......   Bryn Nightingale

800 Platinum or my Scruples.. Decisions, Decisions.....
25 of Solaris, 1420

So there I was, wondering what I should do for the day whilst taking a stroll, Amaia flying high above me, keeping her ever watchful eye over me, making sure no errant hands make an attempt for my coin purse... not that they would be so successful, but I always appreciate her being near, she is a dear friend and a welcome comfort. BUT HARK!!! There upon the job board, a wanted poster for a wizard? The prize? 800 Platinum!!!! There were other details but for some reason I do not recall them because 800 Platinum!!! My dreams of finding enough coin for Mother seem all the more obtainable now. A Gildengard Knight Captain known as Geoffrey Belessard has requested this mage be capture, or killed, so it is him I must go see.......WE must go see as capturing a man, let alone a wizard on my own could prove troublesome, so Oculo, Jor Haldon, Cayden Amberose, and myself decide to work together. While I still have my doubts about the young man, Cayden is my Nightingale Brethren, so I will treat him as such.   We located the very luxurious tent of the Gildengardian Captain and it is made apparent to me, by the guards outside, that the description of the fugitive wizard is a platinum haired sun elf.....like myself.....well shit. Lucky for me that my companions vouch for me, barely, but enough to dissuade my arrest. We are brought before the Knight Captain (who also immediately confuses me for his fugitive....it's clear they have no idea who they seek). Once the confusion was clarified, he informs us that this sun elf is wanted for escaping the blockade imposed by Gildengard upon Daoinfel, the only City owned by the Ludum Praecontatio and my birth home. Gildengard's ridiculous views of magic, mainly that it is a heathen practice that must be stamped out, forces them to blockade what they view as their largest threat and an abomination. However, The Ludum is strong and will not bow to the will of rich men is shiny armor, so I'm not worried about mother. She is well protected.   A few of my companions have some issues with the "legality" of pursuing, capturing and handing over a "criminal" to another Kingdom that does not have dominion over Glennhaven. So we set out to speak to the Commander of the Knights of the Elk, who gave us the final word on the matter; Gildengard CAN in fact request the capture of a fugitive in this budding town for they are allies of Aurunem in the war. Something about how he spoke of the situation gave way his true feeling, mostly his disdain for Captain Belessard. It seemed Commander Gurst knew exactly who the wizard was, knew where he was, and what's more, believed him to be innocent. He offered us much less coin to let the man go and look the other way or find another resolution, but this was not sufficient enough for Cayden, nor myself...... 800 platinum is STILL 800 platinum. We thought it prudent to at least speak with the wizard and judge his innocence for ourselves.   To my surprise, the fugitive wizard in question was none other than Kelvan, a wizard who has been acting the merchant here in Glennhaven. I have seen him around the tents, but had not reason to approach, but I wish I had earlier. His tent was marvelous, so roomy and spacious within, yet conservative in it's exterior, a TRUE wonder. He explained to us that he was the fugitive in question and that he would willingly turn himself in, IF we listen to his tale.....I hope his story is a good one....   IT WAS A GOOD STORY, I was moved by his plight; He has escaped but not alone, with another Sun elf with platinum hair named Faolin Erixdor. This naughty magic user had very peculiar experiments he was interested in continuing away from the eyes of the Ludum and the Gildengardians. He escaped and recreated his laboratory, hid it and himself from the world and resides their still, Kelvan was just about to head out to apprehend him but has been afflicted by some itching powder of sorts, I'm uncertain I had stop listening.   What I heard was there was an evil Sun elf that deserves to be stopped and detained, there is an officer willing to pay 800 platinum for an evil magical sun elf with platinum hair. There is another officer willing to pay us for allowing this particular sun elf in front of us to go free.... and this sun elf just promised to owe us favors for stopping the evil sun elf. Win, win, win and a win!!!! THERE IS NO LOSS FOR ME HERE, I LOVE THIS QUEST!!!   I HATE THIS QUEST!! We arrive a day and a half later to the EbonClaw Mountains in the area indicated by Kelvan and found a small cave housing an UPSIDE DOWN WIZARDS TOWER! Why? What is the point of constructing a tower in this fashion? Once we climbed up, or down not sure, into the tower we immediately see another door and I noticed it is magically trapped, to do what you ask, to open a trap door above Jor Haldon and dropping a Gelatinous Cube upon him. As it gave chase to us back out of the tower, Cayden and Jor manage to get behind it. It kept chasing Oculo and myself until my ice knife froze and shattered the devilish thing. We both re-entered the tower just in time to meet the gaze of a Spectator's 5 eyes staring, and paralyzing my body. Luckily, Jor ended it's miserable existence, clearing our way.   This hallway had 3 doors, a heavy locked door to the north and a simple door to the eat and west. Without going into much detail as to why, I had found myself with the ability to turn inanimate objects invisible, so I touched each door and everything behind was visible. Behind the door to the east was a large and quite frightening Snail with eye stalks that looked like flails, NO THANK YOU. Cayden proved his prowess by sneaking into the door from the top, climb along the wall, lift the lever in the room and climbing and sneaking back out , quite masterful. The door to the west held an equally large but slightly less frightening floating spectral hand, but I was able to see the lever through the door and use my own...smaller.....spectral hand to lift it, unlocking the door to the north, hiding away our fugitive wizard who was tapping roughly on a door covered in runes, I assume in an attempt to escape.   Faolin decided to engage us rather than coming quietly, no, definitely not quietly. The fight was certainly treacherous and he proved no slouch, but we were the victors none the less. Now we have a body to take back to Knight Captain Belessard. We inspect the door and note it to be a magical lock require a very specific spell in order to open, We know which spell is require but none of us have that sort of magic, we will have to return to this place to remote all it's treasures ourselves. We return with the body and everything proceeds absolutely perfectly; we return the body and collect 800 platinum, we tell Commander Gurst of the "sun elf" delivered to the Gildengardians who now have no reason to stay in Glennhaven, got paid 800 gold, and finaly returned to Kelvan to let him off the hook to which he promises his services to us. And as if this day could not get any better, upon our return, Cayden, Beatrix and I decide to build and open a REAL tavern here in Glennhaven and we decide to call it Songbird's Hollow in honor of our Nightingale Surname. What a lucrative few days!!!

I have SOOOOO many questions...
4th of Solaris, 1420

So I awake one morning in fair Glennhaven and what do I find? Wanted Posters!?!? Wanted Posters of my previous little crew of thieves, Wanted Posters depicting a family of a Hal-Elf (Beatricks), our new human friend (Kayden, still keeping an eye out for him), a very obvious picture of Norixius (why did I choose the only dragonborn in town to accompany us) and an older, blind and deaf High Elf (I really do need a better disguise). Now what to do... I could disassociate myself from the trio, not actually being blind or deaf would be a great cover...but truly they are the only ones seemingly skilled enough to pull off the right kind of capers around here if I be so motivated, so it would behoove me to assist in absconding them. As it were, all I must to do was to wait long enough, for along came a sparrow and spirited the posters away, leaving behind crumbs to follow.   Those crumbs led to O-do, the half-orc with the strange demeanor and the right amount of coin for our...goods. Our little troupe gathered once more and made our way to O-do, who was as odd as ever but spoke my language just fine. He pointed me in the direction of a fine looking stagecoach, a swift one indeed, one that comes with guards. Once our benefactor allowed us to enter her wonderfully furnished wagon, she made herself known to us as Nidora Nightingale of the House bearing the same name. She claims she has been playing the role of Mother hen, protecting her budding hatchlings, taking down each poster that surfaced. Truly this family of her has either intense pull with the authorities or deep pockets, either way, I would not mind enjoying more of those benefits.   In order for us to join her little "family", we would need to accomplish a small trial: we must reach a fortress that currently housed two colleagues of her families, one must likely dead by the hand of the other, we are to enter and steal a signet ring from the more than likely deceased fellow who entered the fortress to battle the other colleague, ALL WITHOUT BEING SEEN by this esteemed and presumably the victorious colleague who went by the moniker, Numier.   I had soooo many questions, first why did these two colleagues to battle,, second what would happen if we WERE seen (we were lead to believe there would be conflict should this occur), why did she refer to this Numier as both a singular individual but also plural. Finally, what sort of family is she apart of to show little sadness for a fallen comrade or for compatriots to battle one another with little haste to stop them. Unfortunately, she was rather vague on answers, but she made it clear that all she wanted was the ring, whatever other treasures we found were ours to take, and killing this Numier may not mean we've failed. Marvelous!!! I truly prefer not to shed blood, however should it come to my life or Numier's...well, you understand.   It took roughly six days to travel to the the Meadowglades near Arlington where we found an abandoned fortress, well mostly abandoned, there were four bugbear attempting to take down the sturdy iron door. More accurately, one bugbear was attempting force the door, the other three watched...until they grew tired and decided to give a different Bugbear a chance. Could these bugbears be the Numier we were warned of? Thank goodness for Amaia, without her celestial grace, we would surely be lost, she was able to scout the entire fortress and surrounding landscape. I honestly don't know where I would be without her.   An interesting plan began to form in my head; perhaps I could use the visage of the Fat Merchant to lure the bugbears away from the fortress. The disguise will prevent Numier from discovering us or keep suspicion away from me at least as well as enticing the bugbears to chase a slow fat merchant. I let my compatriots position themselves in case the ruse goes south, move to their opposite end, and transform my sleek frame into a fat grotesque bastard....perfection.   I step out and give the performance of my life. It was perfect, too perfect. They immediately began to give chase and I immediately regretted my decision. I'm not quite sure what my thought process was at this moment, but now I have this issue to deal with. I had a few flasks of oil on my persons, so I periodically stopped to throw them, one shattered on the floor, they other two hit two bugbears. As I kept up the chase, I pulled a torch, lit it with some small magic and tossed it between that. Glorious, they both caught fire, giving me an ample distraction to hide and pass the four of them. The smell was atrocious but they managed to pat the flames out, killing both flaming bugbears....they used their maces to put out the fire, hehe bugbears!   When I arrive at the Fortress, I found Beatricks waiting at the door for me, she's so sweet, and really very talented. We entered the hall, I notice white X's placed on several tiles, Beatricks informs me that they are traps, what a clever girl, I bet she found all of these. I lightly step past them, suddenly there is a click and 3 quick thwips behind me, two of which sounded as if hitting metal. I turned to see Beatricks had stepped on one of the X's she marked off causing darts to shoot from the wall, 2 hitting her armor and one in her NECK.....DEAR GOD THERE A DART IN YOUR NECK!   We make our way to the room Norixius and Kayden discovered, mostly empty but found a chest hidden behind the wall..finally a pay day. Thanks to Beatricks and her magics, she was able to track the item we were searching for, it is below us deep in the fortress. We manage to work our way down into the lower levels, a long hall way lead to a large set of double doors with only a small off shoot into what looks like a pond. We approach the doors and I use my third hand to push a mirror past the door to see within....   Sweet mother's bosoms'!!!!   So..... Numier is a Black Dragon sitting atop a small hoard of gold. Why did we take this quest again? Oh dear what to do, apparently, the ring is located on the half eaten charred corpse left to the side of the room. Luckily for me, my third hand stretches quite far, I am able to secure the ring and a few other items on the corpse, including a bag full of potions of water breathing, bringing them to me without entering the room, Huzzah!. Didn't even have to step inside.......Kayden snuck inside to pickpocket gems....we are all going to die.   Once he secure a few gems without waking the slumbering beast, we all decide now would be a go, unfortunately as we began to leave and exit through the above door, only to hear louder smacking against it, the bugbears have returned! AND THEY WOKE NUMIER!!!!   I have never moved so swiftly before, I begged my compatriots to down these potions and that we hide in the waters and left Numier pass us and deal with the bugbears. We did just that and while down in the waters, we discovered a possible exit within the pond. Did we immediately leave, of course not, instead I stayed by the pool while Norixius and Kayden pilfered what they could from the dragons hoard. I use Amaia's sight once more, my lovely partner in crime showed me the carnage that Numier wrought upon the poor unsuspecting bugbears, it was over as quick as it had begun and just before Numier begun to descend to their hoard, we dove and swam out of the fortress and to safety.   We returned to Glennhaven and found Mother Sparrow's Coach right where we left it, she granted us audience and we handed over the ring. divulged the means of our success and due to our spectacular victory, were granted emittance to her "family". Apparently, her family offers a bonus payment for joining, I have even more questions now, but know enough never to look a gift horse in the mouth.

MARIE'S DEAD....HAHAHA what a great plan!!!!
15rh of Dium, 1420

As it turns out, there are not many followers of the craft within Glennhaven. Just my luck, I finally acquire good information regarding a Merchant and a solid haul of valuable goods he is transporting and I can't find a single person with the right skill set, besides myself and Amaia of course, to pull off this caper. Oh well, I suppose I will have to recruit some of the folk with in the camp. But who, who will prove useful while maintaining questionable morals in tense situations? And who will keep their cool if we are caught?   The half-elf Beatrix is certainly mischievous and her abilities are fantastic for this sort of work, but is she willing to pilfer goods not rightly ours? Yes, apparently; coin is a powerful motivator. Who else??   Norixius Thorin is a powerful mage and that bag of his is an incredible tool for this sort of work, but is the only dragonborne in Glennhaven, he can't exactly keep a low profile. Still he seems interested...and that gambling problem of his could help with the guards. He's on board!! One more should due.   How intriguing!?! An outsider of the camp has approached me and flash the signs of identification. A human named Kayden Amberose has heard through the grapevine of my mark. Well at least now I have someone with a bit of experience is subterfuge. We will visit the lady in the lake to ensure our mission goes as planned.....if you can call our squabbling over ideas a plan. I can't help that my theatrical nature is excited by the prospects of taking on a fun role for a heist.   We intercept the wagon an hour away from Glennhaven as not to raise too much suspicion. As it turns out, the guards hired by the merchant are Ember Mane Company men, Mercenaries for hire and worse...they have...integrity...ugh. Well, as the saying goes, there is more than one way to skin a displacer beast. They may have high morals, but that will be our advantage and their downfall.   A few minor spells to soil ourselves in muck, a minor illusion of a screaming woman, another of beating drums giving chase, a group of people running and screaming from the woods, one of them guiding a blind man (me hehe), while an adorable half-elf is shouting "MARIE'S DEAD!!" again and again is just enough to sell the story of our ruse, but oh no, Mr. Kayden furthers the sob story by giving life to an ill mother in Kingsport....(how ironic his lie is)....exactly where the merchant and his hired help happen to be heading, what a coincidence, what perfect timing, what brave and gracious folk to taken in such a pitiful bunch of wretched souls.....WHAT AN ABSOLUTE CROCK OF SHITE!!!?!?!?!!   So there we were, travelling with our intended victim of theft with no physical harm planned, unbeknownst to them, in our soiled garb. Perfection. Amaia gave me vision from above, letting me monitor the positions of these men. Once they felt we had evaded our fake pursuers, we settled for the evening and our plan...(yes, it was a plan...or there abouts) was put into motion. Two guards slept while the other two took shifts for the evenings watch. Norixius engaged one guard in a game of cards....I knew his addiction would prove useful. Now the real gamble, to charm the other guard and lead him away from the tent with the Merchant sleeping within and the wagon with our prize within. WHAT LUCK!!! The Spell took hold and the buffoon believes me to be his friend.   Kayden should have entered the wagon by now, and Beatrix has prepared herself for the final act of this play by disguising herself as the fat Merchant. She truly is mischievous, oh what fun!! Another minor illusion and the Ember Mane fool now thinks wolves are about. I force him to drag my "blind" self back to the wagon as the Merchant (Beatrix) tells of the sound of wolves and orders the guard playing cards to destroy them just as the other guard returns with myself in tow, also raving of wolves. Perfection. Than they wake the two sleeping guards, DAMN, so much for perfection....   One last sound of wolves and an order from the fake merchant Beatrix and the other two guards are off and into the woods. Quickly Norixius joined Kayden in the wagon and grab the goods, SUCCESS!! They exit and Kayden cuts the horse's tie and sent it off with a smack, the guards entering the light of the campfire to see the pony taking flight, just as we exit the light and the fair Beatrix cloaks us in shadows and out of sight....MY GODS What a thrill, finally something truly exciting. I felt as though I was once again the young elfling stealing for food and coin, what fun!!!   We put some distance between ourselves and the wagon before stopping for the night to look through our loot. Our short lived reprieve was interrupted by a soft voice belonging to a mask Halfling, She claims that the Merchant held something of hers, a locket, an item now in our possession....She knew of our job and she knew to find us after it was completed... this worrisome, but luckily for us, we had no such locket.   Kayden had the locket...masterful in the craft indeed, perhaps too masterful...in any case he returned her locket and she offered to give us further jobs of which she will be our contact. Her name is Sparrow. We returned to Glennhaven in the morning and attempted to locate a fence or a Merchant with a terrible eye for appraisals so we may rid ourselves of our stolen goods....and as it turns out, Sparrow left us a message within our magical bag...she's good...frustratingly so, Her note pointed us in the direction of a strange and odd half-orc named Odo. He was strange, truly truly strange, but spoke our language just fine, including my favorite language, Coin. I wonder what other jobs this Sparrow will provide, in any case, I now have a team here in the camp I can rely on.....mostly.

I needed something to break the monotony...
11th of Jali, 1420

WHAT AN INCREDIBLY DULL PLACE....there isn't much to do and even less to steal...well unless I went after one of the caravan leader coffers but that might prove a bit harder in a small camp-like atmosphere. There not enough folk around to maintain a level of anonymity among them. Ah well, I still need to make some coin here, enough to live anyway....and enough to send to her.   Apparently there is work to be found even in a small a place as this, but it's all a bit too dangerous at the moment, I mean really, what would I accomplish against a Basilisk, no.. thank ..you. I manages to spy a job that would suit my talents best, but some ridiculous oaf ripped it off the board before I caught of glimpse of what it paid. Turns out the oaf was friendly with a pair dwarves that seem as though they'd be good in a fight. And then along came a halfling, a Timnothy Bramblethorn, who seemed like an alright chap, perhaps even a good scapegoat if needed.   In any case, the oaf, known now to me a Breg of No-family, and the Dwarves, Schmitty and Ferrak..... I might be mistaken, it can be difficult to understand a drunkard, happen to be looking for another compatriot, so I made myself known to them and won them over instantly, they even wished for me to be the "face-man" of the group. I have no desire to be in any lime light, bad for business. We met with a representative of the Merchant's guild...now here is a most beautiful mark if I've ever seen one; entitled, wealthy, a brillant merchant, no doubt, but dumb as a stump when it comes to common sense. I will have to find out where he is straying when we return, and where he keeps his purse...   He sent us to investigate a lost caravan, no doubt bandits on the roads or some such nonsense. How fortunate that we must rent a wagon, I could fake a nap to spy on the group and keep an eye out for our charge. Ah, Amaia, what would I do without you my sweet darling. She found the first of the destroyed carts. It seems whoever took the caravan and it's drivers, watchmen and passengers had no need for the food that came with them. What sort of creature do not require sustenance? and even more worrysome, what sort of creature keeps prisoners but no way to feed them? We quickened our pace at the mere thought. Again my lovely Amaia proved to be our greatest ally, what more could one expect from such a perfect companion.   What creatures don't require rations or water? imps, a demon and their followers, queried answered. Not wanting to draw swords directly against these creatures, at least not until the odds are a bit more in our favor, Mr. Bramblethorn and I sought to release the few guards left from their initial assault and where successful, however they proved to be little aid. As it were, I would have to draw my blade and was quite dashing I might add, a pierced liver here, a bit of intestines' there, Truly a showman of the sword, yet while I alone battle their magic user, the devil placed his hand upon me and sucked the very life from my body. Mr Bramblethorn again aided me and restored my vitality. Perhaps I shan't use him as a scapegoat. Schmitty proved to be quite the Unexpected handful, these devils had no idea what hit them, I believe the dwarf felled most of these demonic foes. In any case we managed to save some of the cargo and even more of the innocent folk and retuned to our small dull ...perhaps not entirely dull..camp. Now where did that jolly rich fat man get too?
