The Shenlong

The race of true dragons who rule the nation of ShenLongGuo.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Shenlong have long, serpentine bodies that can reach over a mile in length. Their scales shimmer in the sunlight. They have smallish front claws with three to five fingers each. Their maws are long with two rows of sharp teeth.

Genetics and Reproduction

Shenlong are immune to genetic diseases, so they can reproduce incestuously.
A male and female Shenlong mate, and in two years time the female lays an egg. The egg takes a decade to hatch.

Ecology and Habitats

Shenlong prefer to live either in the Valley of Origins of ShenLongGuo, the Sacred Mountain of Zhong Gong Island, or the Sacred Sky Island.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Shenlong possess 6 Senses. The normal five (Sight, Smell, Touch, Taste, Hearing). They also possess Magination, which allows them to sense the presence or absence of magic in any given person or area.
By nature, Shenlong can use Magic and rarely need to be trained in its use. Many Shenlong opt to turn the teaching of Magic into a career, and in general they make excelent, if overly demanding, teachers of Magic.
Shenlong also learn from a very young age to change their bodies into a more humanoid appearance. They do this so that other races do not panic at the sight of their large bodies. It also allows them to enter buildings and places otherwise too small for them.

Common Etiquette Rules

Shenlong bow when greeting other Shenlong; to other races, they give curt nods. Other races are expected to bow when greeting a Shenlong; failure to do so is seen as an insult. A child is never bowed to by other Shenlong, only nodded.
